Need a gift idea? Get Dad the new Apple iPod Shuffle!

untitled6logo3I have to have my music. I have to have my tunes. I have to have my iPod and iTunes! I work out upstairs when the kids are napping and I like to go out on walks. With this said, I have to say how I love the new iPod Shuffle. Have you seen these yet? When I first thought iPod Shuffle, I remember them as cute, but still not light weight enough to run with. I would fear that it would fall off my shirt or my shorts while jogging or working out. Well, there is a new iPod Shuffle in town and I *heart* it! Check out how TINY it is!

It’s amazing to me to see such a powerful piece of technology in something so small, so lightweight!

1.8″ tall by 0.3″ thin to be exact.
To create the world’s smallest music player, we moved the controls from iPod shuffle to the earbud cord. This allowed us to make the new iPod shuffle dramatically smaller, but not just for dramatically smaller’s sake. It’s also easier to use, with the controls located where you can access them quickly.

I did not have iTunes on my laptop, so I installed it. It was SO easy and took about 5 minutes to install.

What I love about the new iPod is the cord that is included. Remember those long cords that took up a lot of space when you were storing the cable? Check out how small this cable is! Really, this is all that you need on the USB cable.

Once I got it installed, iTunes converted the music that I already had on my computer in to iTunes. Once I registered my iPod Shuffle, the time it took to add in my iTunes Gift Card and personal information was really fast! I have to say that this experience with the iTunes store was beyond great! iTunes is very well organized, so easy to search for music, movies and even audio books to download. Audio books? Are you serious? I love books, but rarely have time to sit down and read them, so I am really excited about this! We travel a lot and while on the road, it will be nice to listen to audio books in route.

One new feature with the new Apple iPod Shuffle is something called VoiceOver. This is so cool! I wish I could show you in a video what this was like, but it was hard holding the video camera up to the headphones. LOL Here is some info about it:

Introducing VoiceOver.
Musically speaking, the new iPod shuffle is brilliant, thanks to an exciting new feature called VoiceOver. Say you’re listening to a song and want to know the title or the artist. With the press of a button, VoiceOver tells you as the music dips down. It even announces the names of your playlists. And when your battery needs charging, VoiceOver tells you that, too.

You’ll notice how smoothly and easily VoiceOver works. A lot of thought has gone into creating an iPod shuffle that not only talks, but says the right things. It all begins with iTunes and its seamless integration with iPod. iTunes reads your song information, then uses the new VoiceOver Kit to generate the announcements for the songs, artists, and playlists on your iPod shuffle.

You’ll hear different voices depending on what type of computer system you use when you sync your iPod shuffle. If you sync your iPod shuffle with a PC or with a Mac running Mac OS X Tiger, you’ll hear the English voice included in the VoiceOver Kit. And since Mac OS X Leopard already has an amazing English voice built in, that’s the one you’ll hear when you sync your iPod shuffle with a Mac running Leopard.

You have 14 different languages to select for VoiceOver. Very cool feature that I am very excited about!

Why VoiceOver? Well, if you have a nice variety of songs on your iPod that might be in different languages, now that VoiceOver will announce those songs in whatever language that song may be in.

A French love song. A Spanish bolero. An Italian cantata. Your music library has songs from all over the world. That’s why VoiceOver speaks 14 different languages. So it can tell you song titles and artists in the correct languages.

overlay_thumb_remote_20090311About 3 year s ago, hubby got me one of the older, iPod’s that were bigger and weighed more. They were harder to clip on to your clothes and work out to or run with. The new iPod Shuffle is small enough and weighs next to nothing, but the headphones are also different than what you may be used to. I love this change! There are now controls on the headphones themselves.

The controls of the new iPod shuffle are located on the right earbud cord. With command central now strategically placed in this more convenient location, you can navigate your music — and activate the VoiceOver feature — without taking your eyes off your run, your ride, or whatever you’re doing.

features_key_20090311This makes is great for walking, running, or even if you happen to go to the tanning salon and listen to your iPod while laying there. Yes, I have been using this a lot while tanning. This is a great feature!

The iPod Shuffle has 4GB of storage that holds about 1000 songs. That is pretty mighty if you ask me! 1000 songs in something SO small!

Oh! One more thing! You can have your iPod engraved! Why would you want to? My first thought was for graduation, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day – oh, so many ideas! You can now have your iPod engraved with just about anything that you want.
