Having kids and a hubby in the house, we always have messes. No doubt about that! I also have a germ phobia, so when we are cleaning up, I like knowing that I can clean up AND disinfect germs. Since school is back in full force, I am just waiting on the day where Tucker comes home sick. We can help prevent those in our home right from the bat with Lysol.
With kids heading back to school, parents need be prepared for what’s being sent home with their children. And we’re not talking homework – we’re talking germs.
The Lysol brand has teamed up with Dr. Laura Jana, a pediatrician, mother of three school aged-children and owner of an educational daycare center. She would like to share her back to school checklist with moms to help them prepare their children for a healthy and happy school year. Her tips include:
- The Health administration is predicting a very serious cold and flu season, so teach your children about healthy hygiene habits before they go back to school and get exposed to classroom germs, like MRSA or H1N1 virus. Check out the new educational Web Site for kids, developed in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), at www.oopkids.com. This kid-friendly Web site is designed to educate children about healthy hygiene habits and safety routines.
* This Web site is an expansion from an existing health campaign with the CDC – Ounce of Prevention http://www.cdc.gov/ounceofprevention/ . - Send school germs packing by encouraging your children to drop their book bags, take off their shoes and leave their coats at the door when they walk in. Send them straight to the sink to wash their hands for at least 20 seconds (long enough to sing Happy Birthday twice!) while you spray their bags with Lysol Disinfectant Spray to help kill bacteria they may have picked up from the school bus, the playground or the classroom.
* Lysol Disinfectant Spray effectively kills 99.9% of bacteria on soft surfaces, including the family couch! (Press release available upon request)
* For more information, check out the Lysol Back to School Information Center at http://lysol.com/send-school-germs-packing/
We could all use some extra tips on germ control, can’t we? I know I can! Here are some additional websites that you may find helpful:
- The Germ Information Center (www.lysol.com/germ-information-center/) provides useful information to help families fully understand the threat posed by germs.
- Resources & Downloads (www.lysol.com/germ-information-center/resources/) has a variety of downloads including the “Looking After You” series of booklets, which provide practical information and tips for keeping you and your children healthy from pregnancy through childhood.

We do the usual cleaning as a family once a week: wipe down doors, door knobs, door frames, cabinets, windows, counters, phones, keyboards, tv remotes and stuff like that.
To keep germs under control we wash our hands with anti-bacterial soap and we use disinfectant cleaners. Its nothing special but it works.
We just use lots of handwashing and sanitizing
Nothing special, wash hands &clean everything often!

I don’t like to use too many germ killers because they kill off the good bacteria as well as the bad and it leaves our immune system vulnerable. That being said, we do wash our hands a lot and I like to use Lysol at least once a week for a thorough cleaning.

The main way I try to prevent germs is to keep everything as clean as possible. I keep lysol and clorox wipes handy and wipe down the restrooms and kitchen daily.
I use purell as much as possible. I also try very hard to keep my 14 month old twins from sharing sippy cups, although they share all their toys anyway. It’s a tough battle.
I use Lysol Wipes all over the house. I can never get enough of these things. They work great.

we use lots of hand sanitizers and antibacterial soap and make sure that if someone is sick they pretty much keep to themselves comfortably in their own room-its very hard to stop the spread of a virus but with lots of kleenex, papertowels, and other stuff that you can just throw away and not have to touch after the sick person has already done so is a big help in keeping the germs to spread. Also, paper plates, plastic utensils and cups are a help because we can just throw them out. NOt environmentally friendly,I know, but if someone is sick that is what we do.

Washing our hands is the biggest thing we do. One product I really like though is the Clorox anywhere spray. It’s great because it doesn’t have a strong aroma and is fairly gentle so I don’t worry about it ruining surfaces. It also doesn’t leave any icky residue.
We always wash our hands before eating!

mandatory entry: My tip for santizing my home is too KEEP a Can of Lysol disenfecting spray outside right beside your door where everyone can see it and I keep a sign there that says please spray your shoes bottoms before you enter. This is a great tip to kill germs before they enter your home because our feet go everywhere in the home. This way if shoes are forgotten to be removed before entering you can kill the germs prior too. Also spary the bottom of your purse before you come inside as well, you will not believe the germs you get there from sitting it down on public places. Thanks Lysol for your wonderful handy products!

Well we definately use Lysol spray and the wipes alot and I am a cleanaholic so I am constantly cleaning, wiping counters and whatever else is needed at the time. I wash all of our sheets at least once a month and I am constantly trying to keep the dust under control since our whole family has allergies and sometimes that turns right into infection and someone is sick. Thank you for the giveaway!
I Lysol everything, lol. We also make sure to always was our hands properly.
I’ve loved & used Lysol for years…..my tip, it’s one I tell everyone since I saw it on TV…….MOVE your tooth brushes to the medicene cabinet or far enough away from the toilet..when you flush..the germs from there can fly up to 10 feet! I know, OMG!!
We wash our hands often and drink plenty of orange juice.
the only thing i do really is use lysol wipes in supplement to some other antibacterial spray to clean countertops, doorknobs and appliances
We wash our hands lots and lots!
i use windex on everything.

If one of us gets sick we try to really keep everything scrubbed so we all don’t get sick. I think keeping the bed sheets clean is important because you are there almost half of the day.

I love this stuff
I don’t do anything special to keep the germs down in the house-just the usual of washing hands after being outside or pottying, making sure to take shoes off at the door and basic cleaning once a week. I do like having disinfecting wipes around, though, for quick clean-ups!
I’m a clean-as-you-go mother. I find this method keeps the house continuously clean when I stay on top of anything that needs cleaning.
We’ve all become hand washing fanatics around here-I do the swipe with the wipes on doorknobs, phones, flat surfaces, etc. Thanks!
I take my daughters to bath and body works and let them choose hand sanitizer gels in fragrances they like. They keep them in their purses…and because they like the scent, they use it more often. Thanks for the review and giveaway…love Lysol in my house!
I love Lysol wipes! Considering I am the “sick” one in the house right now, I’ve got hand sanitizer in every room for a quick fix and make sure everyone is washing their hands!
I constantly wash my hands and instruct my children to do the same!
i bought foaming hand washes to make it easier and funner for the kids to wash their hands
We clean regularly and use antibacterial cleaners. Also we keep our hands clean with antibacterial gel
I use Lysol spray to keep things like the phone, computer keyboard, toilet handle, etc. germ free.

I don’t really have any “tips”, other than I use a lot of foam sprays and air sanitizers for convenience and to get the job done quickly:)
