Help prevent those school germs with Lysol 4-in-1 wipes *Giveaway Closed*

Having kids and a hubby in the house, we always have messes. No doubt about that! I also have a germ phobia, so when we are cleaning up, I like knowing that I can clean up AND disinfect germs. Since school is back in full force, I am just waiting on the day where Tucker comes home sick. We can help prevent those in our home right from the bat with Lysol.

With kids heading back to school, parents need be prepared for what’s being sent home with their children. And we’re not talking homework – we’re talking germs.

Lysol Disinfecting WipesThe Lysol brand has teamed up with Dr. Laura Jana, a pediatrician, mother of three school aged-children and owner of an educational daycare center. She would like to share her back to school checklist with moms to help them prepare their children for a healthy and happy school year. Her tips include:

  • The Health administration is predicting a very serious cold and flu season, so teach your children about healthy hygiene habits before they go back to school and get exposed to classroom germs, like MRSA or H1N1 virus. Check out the new educational Web Site for kids, developed in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), at www.oopkids.com. This kid-friendly Web site is designed to educate children about healthy hygiene habits and safety routines.
           * This Web site is an expansion from an existing health campaign with the CDC – Ounce of Prevention http://www.cdc.gov/ounceofprevention/ .
  • Send school germs packing by encouraging your children to drop their book bags, take off their shoes and leave their coats at the door when they walk in. Send them straight to the sink to wash their hands for at least 20 seconds (long enough to sing Happy Birthday twice!) while you spray their bags with Lysol Disinfectant Spray to help kill bacteria they may have picked up from the school bus, the playground or the classroom.
           * Lysol Disinfectant Spray effectively kills 99.9% of bacteria on soft surfaces, including the family couch! (Press release available upon request)
           * For more information, check out the Lysol Back to School Information Center at http://lysol.com/send-school-germs-packing/

We could all use some extra tips on germ control, can’t we? I know I can! Here are some additional websites that you may find helpful:

  • The Germ Information Center (www.lysol.com/germ-information-center/) provides useful information to help families fully understand the threat posed by germs.
  • Resources & Downloads (www.lysol.com/germ-information-center/resources/) has a variety of downloads including the “Looking After You” series of booklets, which provide practical information and tips for keeping you and your children healthy from pregnancy through childhood.

we use lots of hand sanitizers and antibacterial soap and make sure that if someone is sick they pretty much keep to themselves comfortably in their own room-its very hard to stop the spread of a virus but with lots of kleenex, papertowels, and other stuff that you can just throw away and not have to touch after the sick person has already done so is a big help in keeping the germs to spread. Also, paper plates, plastic utensils and cups are a help because we can just throw them out. NOt environmentally friendly,I know, but if someone is sick that is what we do.

mandatory entry: My tip for santizing my home is too KEEP a Can of Lysol disenfecting spray outside right beside your door where everyone can see it and I keep a sign there that says please spray your shoes bottoms before you enter. This is a great tip to kill germs before they enter your home because our feet go everywhere in the home. This way if shoes are forgotten to be removed before entering you can kill the germs prior too. Also spary the bottom of your purse before you come inside as well, you will not believe the germs you get there from sitting it down on public places. Thanks Lysol for your wonderful handy products!
