Bing Teacher Appreciation & Donors Choose.org {My donations!}

I am 34 and I still can clearly remember all of the teachers that I had in elementary school, Junior High and even in High School. One teacher that stands out to me, well two, are Mrs. Lamb & Mrs. Gilbert from my elementary. They were amazing! Mrs. Gilbert was that tough love type of person, but she cared about us so much! I loved all of my teachers, but have to say that I have a whole new appreciation for them now that I am married to a teacher and see behind the scenes as to all that teachers do on their own time.

I was given the chance to donate $100.00 on DonorsChoose.Org. I cannot describe the feeling that  my heart had when I looked through all the classrooms in need and to donate to two different rooms to help them raise funds for things that they need. I chose to split my donation in to two $50.00 donations

Engaging Students Through Centers

My Students
“My students need engaging centers to develop their reading comprehension, vocabulary, and word building skills. My students are sweet boys and girls in first grade that need school to be a stable and fun place that they want to attend. The students at my school are 63% Hispanic, 41% are English language learners, and approximately 70% are socioeconomically disadvantaged.”
My Project:
“During reading instruction each day, we spend some time as a whole class learning skills to help us become better readers. However, the students are all on a variety of reading levels. For this reason, I do small reading groups at each of the levels to give students practice with exactly what they need. While I am spending that time with a small group, the rest of the students need to spend their time in productive ways. These centers will be set up around the room. Students will rotate to the centers throughout reading time each day. When I am finished with a reading group, I can then walk around and check the students work to ensure that they are getting the most from their center time. Then they will rotate and I get the opportunity to meet with the next reading group. My students will learn reading comprehension, vocabulary, word work, and how to work with others.
Being able to read and comprehend are the most important skills a person can have. By helping us with this project you will help my students to spend their group and independent time on fun, engaging centers that will make learning to read and comprehend fun.

My students need 8 centers that focus on reading comprehension, vocabulary, and word building, including a Reading Comprehension Games Library and a Classroom Magnetic Letters Kit.”

Have A Heart!

“Kids love to decorate their own posters, books, and word walls with cool die cut shapes that they design themselves. With a set of different shaped die, kids can pick their own shapes and design their own posters, cool bookmarks, and even bright books! Kids need different ways to engage in literature. A die cutter machine was recently donated to the classroom. The machine is easy enough for kids to use. Now, all we need are fun shapes like hearts, hands, butterflies, girl/boy, puzzle and awards for the kids to use in the machine.I want kids to love English. I need fun ways to engage both boys and girls. Activities should be academically rigorous while making sure ALL kids explore and learn. Kids will love to die cut professional name tags, bookmarks, posters, word walls and bright book shapes for English, Math, and Science class. With different die shapes, a cutting pad and storage box, all kids will have fun picking the dies they like most. With your help, kids will use adult technology in order to enhance their own learning about English. Kids will teach other kids how to use cool adult equipment. With your help, kids will take learning to a new level!

With your donation, students will create their own Essential Word Wall using heart shapes. Students will use donated electronic dictionaries to define essential words. Students will add words and definitions to the wall they build using die cut shapes. Kids will also use die shapes for poster projects, bright books, and name tags. Both boys and girls will love cutting their own dies out of felt, foil, plastic and paper!

Every donation makes kids feel like superstars. You motivate kids by helping teachers like me differentiate. You make kids believe in themselves. People like you help teachers like me find different and fun ways to enhance student learning. Thank you for everything you do for teachers like me!

My students need assorted die-cut shapes, a cutting pad and a storage box.

I love how it shows the breakdown of where your donations are going. Here’s an example for ‘Have A Heart!”

teacher break down

I highly encourage anyone to make a donation to DonorsChoose.Org. I have donated for some causes in the past such as domestic violence, so this was a whole new experience for me. I will be doing it again! There are so many donations that have been made, and so many that still are needed.

Bing Teacher Appreciation

I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Bing and a $100 DonoseChoose.org giving code to facilitate my review. Mom Central also sent me a thank-you gift certificate.
