BlackBerry Curve 8900 *LOVE IT!*

att_logoI have a confession to make. I have been using a BlackBerry for a few days now and I have fallen in love. When I first heard about BlackBerry, I thought “Ah, those are too big, too bulky, just for business people; so why do I want one?”

I had to see it first hand so that I could judge it for myself and let you all know what I like, dislike, features, etc.

My very first thought about the BlackBerry was ‘Will I get service?” We live in a very small town, and cell phone service is hard to come by. Well, reliable service, that is. When we moved last July, we had to switch to a different cellular company. We didn’t do the research like I thought I had done. Once we found service in our town, we then had issues with the phones that we were using. Apparently if you have an old home or home that has very thick walls (like ours are plaster, concrete, old thick wood), the service on your cell phone may not work as you had hoped. We settled for the company, but after having the opportunity to try out the BlackBerry Curve 8900 and AT&T’s cellular service, I am pretty much sold. Sold? Yes, sold with the service of the BlackBerry phone itself (Full bars!) and the overall service from AT&T. All calls that I have made have been clear, crisp, no calls have dropped and the service through the BlackBerry Curve 8900 has been superior.

My next thought about the BlackBerry was “Do I really need one?” Come on, I stay home with the kids. I don’t work outside the home. Why do I ‘need’ a BlackBerry? I may not work outside the home, but I work full time inside the home with two kids, my blog, keeping up with emails from companies, bloggers, readers and emails from family and friends. My email box is a constant in and out and when I am away from home traveling to visit friends and family, but I also travel for blog events and conferences. My expereince within the first 24 hours with the BlackBerry has been nothing but a positive experience. An email came in that needed to be replied to right away – guess what? I was able to read, reply and when I get home, I can still pull that email up in my Outlook on my computer. I love knowing that I can be out and about with the kids and I can read and reply to my emails if needed, as well as the BlackBerry has full Internet on it. Not just partial Internet that a lot of regular cell phones have. You can go to, read websites and you are able to click with a tiny mouse pointer within that web page. How is this important? Well, I am a member of a mommy forum and a blog forum where I read and post a lot on. While I am away from my computer, I can stll read and reply to those forums. We were out the other day and hubby was asking information about a medication that my son was prescribed. I pulled out the BlackBerry and was able to Google that medication. The BlackBerry has a GPS system on it, so you are able to find your way where you need to go. I can go on and on about the features. I will have a video to show you some of these features coming up in another feature post.
