I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Captain McFinn. I received a complimentary subscription to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation.
There’s no denying that we are a techy family. We are always on the hunt for new apps for the kids that are interactive and learning. We had the chance to check out a new app called Captain McFinn Swim & Play and I am excited to share with you what we learned.
Captain McFinn’s Swim & Play – Preschool Learning Activities
Visit the first virtual deep sea adventure where your preschooler can interact with a real live explorer. New, unique learning activities are available every day.
It is really easy to get started. There’s a parent’s portal that has all sorts of information and help for the app itself.
Once you are on the home screen, you will see a place for ‘parents’ and a place for kids to log in. The kids section is where all the fun is at. Have your child set up their fish and they’re good to go.
Set up your fish:
Enter your child’s name:
Once your child goes in to the game, they will see a yellow submarine welcoming him or her. This is really cute! She talks your child’s name and makes it really personal.
The submarine will talk to your child and suggest things to do. For example, Kambry was prompted to go cheer up a sad turtle. Once she found him, she was playing ball and making him smile right away. As a parent, I really loved this! This helps encourage children that if they see someone lonely on the playground, that it’s ok to play with them so they’re not sad and lonely.
After she played with him, she tapped on the left side where the hands are at. That gave her applause because she did something nice for someone else. She ventured around, opened treasures, played with other sea creatures and so much more.
There are several videos within the app that teach things from information about sea life and educational videos that help teach a lot about social skills, kindness, helping others and so much more. Each time we go to explore ‘the sea’, we learn something new. Along with the exploring and educational videos, your kids can also make their own music, color, chat and so much more.
I am really impressed with the overall format of the game and how it really is personalized to your child. The learning and activities are a lot of fun and the kids really seem to enjoy all that they’re discovering. As a parent, regardless of your child’s age, I would highly recommend this app. My younger ones are 7 and 9 and they have thoroughly enjoyed learning about the sea with the videos and venturing around within the game itself.

The app complies with all COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act) safety standards, so although parents/children can see the host, the host cannot see them. Through proprietary technology, the host reacts to prompts, responses and creations by the child and texts from the parent (through a secure chat box) to make the interactive experience truly customized.
