Here is my morning routine for my blog:
- Wake up
- Get kids changed
- Make breakfast for the kiddos
- Turn on Dora, because my son is madly in love with her and plans to marry her
- Turn on laptop
- Check email
- Moderate comments on blog
This brings me to this comment that was left on a review/giveaway that I put a lot of time in to using, reviewing and posting about this fabulous product:
My floors love the Steamboy T1 Steam Floor Mop! *Review & Giveaway*
Here is the comment:

My question is:
Does this Sandy person want to be entered in this giveaway or was she just expressing her feelings? If it is an entry, I don’t think she followed my ‘sucky format’.
This really annoys me because of a couple of reasons:
- The companies that I work with are great! The products are great!
- I put TIME in to my reviews, videos, thoughts, etc. and for someone to post this .. well, annoys me. Did I say that?
I do not just post giveaways for sharts and giggles. I take the time to USE the product and to post to you, my readers and the public in general, thoughts from a mother, woman, and consumer’s point of view. Companies and consumers appreciate feedback so that they can use this information to improve their product, if needed.
On my giveaways, I like to post ‘rules’ on how to enter. This is pretty common in the Blogosphere for contests. How do you enter? Well, in the real world, when I post my giveaways, there is a ‘rule of thumb’ to draw traffic to the company’s website. Is this wrong? No. This helps generate traffic and sales to the company(ies) that I work with. This is called a business relationship. Traffic. Sales. Traffic. Sales. Traffic. Sales. Shall I go on?
For someone to come on to my (or anyone’s blog review and giveaway) and post that the ‘format SUCKS’… well, this is just plain rude.
Sorry Sandy, I don’t believe I will be accepting your entry to the Steamboy T1 Steam Floor Mop contest. There are other entrants that are far more interested, take the time to read (and follow) the entry instructions and that have a bit more respect for my blog, my giveaways and the compaies that I work with. I don’t really like being told that my contest rules SUCK.
It seems as if the other entrants on my giveaways have no problems with the ‘sucky format’.

I enjoy reading the reviews and going to the company site to read about other products. I don’t have time to do ALL the available ways to enter but I’m certainly not going to complain about the chance to win a very nice gift.
The people who complain probably want to do nothing more than enter their email address and hope for a win. Well, that isn’t the way it works and she might as well get used to it.

Wow… I guess she missed that reading the blog and entering the contests are voluntary and that if she thinks it sucks, maybe she just shouldn’t waste your time??? LOL!
[Reply]
I am in shock that someone would leave that kind of comment on your blog! You are by far one of the best review bloggers out there and you’re successful because of the time, dedication, and thought you put into it. By no means does this mean you neglect any of your family duties. That is rude beyond belief! Good for you for standing up for yourself but you don’t have to justify yourself to anyone. She has some nerve!

Amanda took the words right out of my mouth…OMG and Wow!
[Reply]
wow… that is pretty screwed up.
[Reply]
Wow, that wasn’t nice at all. If she doesn’t like it she doesn’t have to read it. They’re are plenty of use that love reading your blog and many others.
[Reply]
It sucks to see a comment like that. Thank you and the other bloggers for your hard work in hosting sweeps.
[Reply]
Wow that was out of line

I love your contests and do a great job!! I have a question??
I entered a contest and won but never got the prize. I have emailed this person 3x since Nov and have been very polite. Should I email her 1 more time and see if she replies ? I have seen that she is still having giveaways
What would you do?

Peggy, I sent you an email.
I can help you look in to it if you send me the site that the prize was listed on, and any info that you can.

Perhaps
she’s constipated
or angry with her life and needed to take it out on someone
just having a crappy day
I hope she feels better and chooses another, more healthy place to vent next time
Don’t give her to much power
Peace

I am LMBO @ your comment! LOL @ constipated!

I enjoy the comment contests from the blogs. I have learned so much about new products and I have increased the amount of blogs I visit daily, including yours. The information is so useful which I believe is the point of the review.
[Reply]
How rude! I guess she just wants to be lazy and can’t take a few minutes to actually check out the product and the website. Why does she even bother trying to enter then?
[Reply]
For soem odd reason my PC is being tempermental today and won’t allow me to see this woman’s comment…but maybe that is a good thing after reading all the comments to this post..All I gotta say is that people need to keep their ignorant comments to theirselves..I think you host awesome giveaways. It takes alot of time and effort to get hooked up with reviews and giveaways. I think there is nothing at wrong with wanting to generate some traffic..I mean after all you worked for it. Maybe her comment stemed from jealousy because she is having her own troubles generating traffic or getting hooked up with reviews/giveaways..it can get frustrating…trust me I know. But that still gave her no reason to be rude to you. You are very nice for doing these reviews/giveaways and she should be appriciaive and follow whatever contest rules are set or she can just click the little red square with the white “X” at the top right hand corner of the screen (the exit button). And with that, I am now done ranting.

Seriously, how else did she expect to be entered…was she going to send you a telephathic message. People are lazy. ugh.
[Reply]
ya wow, and if they dont like it why are they here?? i think they are great , i am new at this but am enjoying it very much and seeing all the new sites and products ,although i wish i could one of everything LOL thanks for your hard work

Some people just like to talk to be heard….craziness!
[Reply]
I think she sucks, not the format. Please don’t let one rude commenter ruin the fun. Most of us are very appreciative of the time and effort taken to host a contest.
THANK YOU!
[Reply]
OMG…… that is all I can say.. WOW!!!
[Reply]
Why waste time posting a rude comment when she could have actually commented correctly and been entered to win the great steamboy!!!
[Reply]
I totally agree with you, Tanya. I think if a person really wants to win a prize, they should be willing to put in some effort. Is there some way to get Sandy blocked from all blog giveaways?
BTW-I love your reviews. I really appreciate the time you put into them and for introducing me to new products and companies. What you do is so helpful.
I hope Sandy gets flamed throught the internet!
[Reply]
Wow, people really are amazing. How hard is it to follow the rules? How many contests/giveaways has this “Sandy” entered, because most of them are exactly like this! It’s the fair way to get the company the traffic and exposure they deserve, especially when they’re gracious enough to offer their product FREE to me!
Thank you Tanya, for the great reviews and giveaways! You’re doing an amazing job!
[Reply]
I gotta say something! And it takes a LOT TO TICK ME OFF! Most people realize that companies use Blogs as a way to advertise their product, a type of “Word of mouth Advertising” and WE, the reader of the Blog get the “GIFT” for participating at the end of the giveaway!!!
These Gifts are often VERY generous!!!! If you don’t like the Gift or Giveaway, or you don’t think it is worth your time or effort, then don’t participate!!! NO one is twisting your arm!!! I am not trying to be mean, but GEEZE Louise, have some common sense and a little decorum. If someone is kind enough to basically hand you a free Gift, Do what your MOM Taught you, and use your MANNERS! Be gracious and Thankful!!!!!!
I am getting off my soapbox!!!
Thank you to all the sponsors and Blog Owners~
Oh and by the way… I have a SMALL Blog, but I can only IMAGINE the headaches and Hassles involved with having Giveaways and Contests! I Betcha it is NO WALK IN THE PARK!
Now I am really done~
Love you all!!!!
Leslie

All you can do is laugh, really… I mean, that served nobody.
Personally I enjoy reading reviews and when there is a giveaway I like also taking the time to find out what the product’s all about. Sharing my thoughts on it as an entry gives me a chance to provide feedback to sponsors as well. More feedback means better products – and probably more giveaways!
[Reply]
I think some people just have too much time on their hands.
[Reply]
Wow, she was awfully rude to you. I love your contests and have no complaints. Your reviews are really designed to tell us how a product works in the “average” home.
(and I am in LOVE with my ROKU player)
[Reply]
um…yeah…how else would we enter? Are you going to mind meld with all of us that want this instead of us leaving a comment…yeah…good luck with that. People are very strange, and very rude! I love how much time you take to bring us good product reviews, so thanks from me!
