Summer is here… and in full force! Our weather is simply gorgeous, so we are taking full advantage of it every chance we get. We are on a budget, just like a lot of you are, so we are always on the lookout for activities that my kids like, for things that will continue to spark their minds and for items that are priced nicely to where we don’t mind buying.
This summer, Crayola is encouraging children to let their imaginations run wild with a nationwide wellness campaign called the “Crayola Outdoor Challenge.” The initiative is aimed at inspiring families to spend more time outside exercising their bodies and minds.
I am all about keeping my kids fit and active. To coincide with National Physical Fitness & Sports Month, Crayola is asking families to take the “Crayola Outdoor Challenge” and pledge time each day this summer to outdoor creative play – which can reduce stress, build confidence and reinforce creative thinking skills. The national goal is to reach one million hours of pledged outdoor play time. All throughout Summer, parents can take the pledge at Crayola.com and find dozens of outdoor games and activities that keep kids’ imaginations and bodies active.
Getting creative outdoors lets kids make their own fun and when their imaginations are involved, the fun is endless. To provide families with even more ways to get outside and have fun, Crayola has introduced new additions to its line of outdoor products. In these challenging economic times, Crayola’s outdoor products provide parents with an inexpensive way to keep their kids entertained and active this summer.
Now that we HAVE a driveway and a sidewalk, I can surely appreciate the new and FUN Sidewalk Crayons! Kambry is 18 months old and she loves these! Tucker is 3 ½ and has a blast! This next one, I have to admit that I saw this on TV just this week and really was excited about it! Yes, moms will love to play with their kids with this one! Kids can watch their art come to life with the 3D Jungle Safari Activity Set. Create a jungle safari, put on the 3D glasses and kids will feel like they are in the jungle! The set includes 1 bottle of sidewalk paint (7 fl. oz.), a paint brush, 1 pair of 3D glasses, 8 dual-ended sidewalk chalk sticks, 4 giant stencils and 1 how-to book. For children 6 and up, the suggested retail price is $13.99.

We took the Outdoor Challenge pledge! Less tv and more outside play! Usually we go to parks, the zoo, lots of festivals, anything that let’s us enjoy the sunshine.
We love hanging out in the pool. As soon as it gets warm enough we spend most weekends out there. We have a volleyball net, lounge chair, you name it its the central location for everyone to hang out in.

We love playing outside!!!! We jump on the trampoline, blow bubbles, play hopscotch, slip and slide now that it’s hot, play in the sandbox and on the swing set. We love being outside on beautiful sunny days!!!!!!!!!!!

We badminton and bicycle!
Our family loves to go to the local county park and walk the trails, my kids and I will play a scavenger hunt-like game. I ask them to find a walnut or a blue bird…things like that. We also love to go to the beach and have a lakeside lunch and collect snail shells and rocks.

We all love playing tag. Us adults might look silly running around the lawn with the kids, but it is a lot of fun!
My daughter and I pledge to play everyday! Actually, we love to do creative things best of all. We buy cheap squirt guns and paint them with cheap acrylic paints! It’s a fun way to make something unique. She doesn’t like to play with the toys that “everyone else has”. She is such an individual!

My grandkids live in a large urban center in a second floor apartment with no yard. But their mom tries as much as possible to get them outside – and sidewalk chalking is on of their favorite activities. (They also like their scooter & pedal car.)

We love to play baseball and go for long walks. We always bring the lil red wagon because it’s inevitable that my daughter will want to ride.
