I called the local police department. There is an ordinance for dogs off leashes. I know you read my blog. Are you aware of how disgusting and rude it is to let your dog take a shit in someones yard? I can see if you are out walking and are going to come back and pick it up – but COME ON! My front door is open, your friend takes your dogs out for a walk – bam – they shit in my front yard. I walk outside, ask to get the dog out of my yard. Well, if I don’t want your DOG in my yard, I sure as hell don’t want your dog’s CRAP in my yard! You have a back yard – USE IT!!!!!
The next time I see the dogs outside, without a leash, City Hall will be sending Animal Control to pick up your dogs and give them to a home that can understand that is right, and what is wrong.
A few words:
- Rude
- Disgusting
- Unsanitary
It’s bad enough having to see and smell your dog’s crap from my window, let alone in my own yard. Use your back yard so your yard doesn’t reek of dog crap and so they won’t use my yard as their personal toilet.
I have a cat. How would you like me to throw her litter box in your yard? Yeah – same thing. Next time it happens, I will call the police, have your dogs taken to the animal shelter and will train my cat to crap on your front porch.
I just found this sign on Amazon. I think I might buy it. I wish it was a bit more blunt.
Edited to add… this is now the sign that hangs in my entry way window. What are the odds you will ignore it? Guess what? I don’t want your dogs in my yard. Get the hint?

I LOVE that sign… we have the same problem in our neighborhood. I KNOW it’s not my puppy because the poops are almost as big as HE is. Not to mention we don’t let him out of the house without his leash. I know which dog it is and he is a really big dog that doesn’t listen to his owners and scares the heck out of our poor little Yorkie whenever we are out. Damn neighbors!!
I think you should dump your litter box on their back yard. I hav actually thrown their dogs crap back into our neighbors yard with the pooper scooper! NASTY BIG POOPS!!

we have this here too bastards walk the god, let them shit and never pick it up. I mean really? Next time I see it I will tell them to pick it up or follow them as I call the police so they get charged with littering!

Honestly, I have a large dog, am in Iowa too, and do pick up after him. Mine is 99.9% never off leash, so I understand this rant. (he’s off leash running to car to ‘take a ride’ and that it)
I have neighbors whos dogs smell my dog and crap in my yard- doing cat rescue, I could give them plenty of poo!
You did the right thing- call animal control or the pound if the 2 arent connected and make complaints. Document the dates of complaints/snap pics. If no action is taken, go to your city council or call the council memeber in your ward and start going off.
Responsible pet owners dont let pets run wild. And it would be cool to train the cat

LMAO Hope they get the hint!

Can’t wait to see what you do when it happens again, lol. Be sure and blog it for us!! haha

I completely loved your post! I can totally understand where you’re coming from. Loved the cat litter idea – too funny

I have the same issue except there are NO laws out here in the sticks.
I’ll just refer to you as the POOP POLICE now and will call the next time these dogs take a dump in my yard, k?

You go girl! I hate it when this happens. My neighbors with bigger dogs – labs, etc are kind and respectful and pick up after their dogs. But the neighbors with the little dogs – Bichon, Shit-zu, etc just kick the poop off the road and into anyone’s yard. Do they think because it’s a small turd that it’s ok? WTF?
[Reply]
I agree, totally gross! Your neighbors need to find dog training products or get rid of the dogs.

I had to laugh at this post because I once had the dog warden call me because a neighbor called and told her ,” Peggy has her dog in her yard tied up and I let my dog run free,if my dog goes over and get her dog pregnant, its her fault”. I too ask her again because I thought I heard her wrong and the dog warden was amazed that someone would call her and say that! We had a good laugh! Some people!!
Yes their dog shit in my yard too!!

I see I’m not the only one who has a neighbor that does that~!!!! Just think my front lawn has a 3/4 fence around it and they walk around the fence to get onto the lawn!!!! How disrespectful. I love the idea of throwing my cats liter box in their back yard. I’ll keep that one in the back of my mind for sure. The next time I catch her taking her dogs onto the lawn to crap I’m heading to hers with my the liter box. The only problem is I keep it really clean so I hope it’s dirty when I catch her. Thanks for the great idea lol

Totally discusting! Training your cat to shit on their front porch made me laugh real hard! Maybe this post, if they read it, will get the hint. GROSS!

I honestly did this – I wrote a sign and posted it in the front yard and in our back area that people think I don’t see them inviting their dogs to use. The sign said : My dogs poop bigger than your dogs and we DO know where you live.”

Good for you for taking a stand! The same holds true for children, which is our issue. Teach your children some respect and teach them that it’s disrespectful to be in someone’s yard (front or back, fence or not) without permission. If they are on my property, they become my responsibility, and I will NOT be held liable for your lack of parenting. It’s a simple concept. Maybe I’ll just make a sign like you posted, but for children!

This is too funny- this exact thing happened to me a few months ago-the potty area of choice for these two dogs was the bricks leading up to our back patio-where we walk EVERY SINGLE DAY. After a few days of dog shit stuck to the bottom of my leather boots-I’d had enough. Every time I see poo on our yard, I fling it at their front steps. It doesn’t happen much anymore. Hopefully they’ve gotten the picture.
Good for you for calling the po po! I wish I could find the nerve to do that!

When I saw this on Twitter I laughed so hard. Literally. I understand your pain about having a nasty, disrespectful neighbor. I got tired of arguing with my old ones and called the city. Not only did they pick up the dogs off of the leashes, but the picked up the dogs that were on a leash too. Needless to say, when they got their dogs back a week or so later, I didn’t have this problem anymore.
Take care,
Shynea

Honestly, that is probably one of the most disgusting habits a neighbor can have. I don’t blame you for being upset. Call the police and call them often. Eventually they will get sick of hearing from you and be royally pissed at your neighbor enough to make sure the dog(s) are removed.
[Reply]
Oh how I agree completely! In Ames, there’s a law for not only the leash but for not picking up after your pets.
[Reply]
I couldn’t agree more! The area where I live is VERY Dog-dense (like we’re talking about 100-150 dog owners per block) so the problem can get pretty bad! Good for you for taking a stand!
