I am always looking for different meals and snacks to make the kids. We all get bored with the same thing to eat, don’t we? Of course, a favorite that is always loved is chili dogs. We like hormel Chili on those chili dogs, but the kids also love to dip their chips in chili too. Yum!
I found a recipe on www.hormelrecipes.com that I am excited to make!
Honey Hickory Barbeque Chicken Braid
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup thinly sliced onions
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 (13.8-ounce) package refrigerated pizza dough
- 4 slices Provolone cheese
- 1 (18-ounce) package Lloyd’s® Shredded Chicken in Honey Hickory BBQ Sauce
- 4 slices Cheddar cheese
Directions:
- Heat oven to 425°F.
- In large skillet over medium heat, cook onion in olive oil 5 minutes or until soft.
- Unroll dough. Place on large baking sheet coated with cooking spray. Press dough into 15×10-inch rectangle. Place Provolone cheese slices down center of dough. Spoon chicken over cheese. Spoon cooked onion over chicken. Top with Cheddar cheese slices.
- With scissors or knife, make cuts 1-inch apart on the long sides of the dough to within 1/2-inch of filling. Alternately cross strips diagonally over filling. Turn ends under and press to seal.
- Bake 11 to 15 minutes or until deep golden brown. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
Tell me that doesn’t look tasty! I make homemade bread, so this looks like a very easy and tasty recipe! Lots more recipes here: http://www.hormelrecipes.com
Do you know how Dinty Moore was ‘born’? This is so interesting!
In the 30s, characters Jiggs and Maggie from “Bringing Up Father” were used in Dinty Moore® advertisements. Later, a lumber jack character was introduced, proclaiming “First name’s Dinty, last name’s Moore,” who placed his signature thumbprint on every can. Utilizing celebrities proved to be a popular route in promoting Hormel® chili. Ray Milland, star of “Copper Canyon,” appeared in print ads. In the 80s, pro football player Fran Tarkenton was tapped to promote Hormel® chili.
I had no idea their history, but this was so fascinating to me! I remember Hormel Chili when I was a kid, and I totally remember Fran Tarkenton! It’s amazing the things that we remember and how familiar the Hormel Chili can is to me, to this day. We always have chili in our home; sometimes eat a bowl, or top on our hot dogs – a true summer experience in our home!
Happy 75th anniversary! Hormel® chili and Dinty Moore®! What began with 1 product each has evolved into 20 varieties today www.hormelfoods.com
