Friends coming over? Family about to arrive? Need some quick party tips and you don’t have time to think straight? I can completely relate! There are so many things that we do to help ease our minds when it comes to holiday events and parties.
Frito-Lay wants to help ensure you never miss a beat during the holidays. With some shortcuts and quick “better for you” recipes coupled with a little flair and presentation, you’ll have your guests asking “how does she do it?”
So, we bring you the “Holiday Party in a Pinch:” A few tips to prepare both the home and the pantry so you’re always ready to be the holiday hostess:
- Ambiance is everything – Keep a playlist of festive music easily accessible or stock the stereo with CDs so it’s ready at the push of a button…literally. Add a few scented candles and presto…instant ambiance!
- Let guests add their touch – Keep a box of ornaments on hand and ask your guests to add one to the tree.
- No clean-up necessary – Stock-up on a supply of holiday-colored paper plates, napkins and utensils to lessen post-party clean-up. And if the house is tidy before you head out for the day, there’s no scrambling once they arrive!
- Stock the pantry – Have some “better for you” Frito-Lay products on hand to lessen the stress of “what to fix?” and allow for more time to visit with your guests. Frito-Lay’s Tostitos Scoops or Baked! Scoops — with a delicious dip — are true crowd-pleasers. Serve on a festive platter or dish and presto! …festive snacks ready to share!
- Entertain with ease – Always have several fun board games accessible to keep guests entertained. And a few kid-friendly movies or simple crafts will keep the little ones busy while the adults socialize.

I find out everyone seems to like fruit and vegetable trays.
I usually make two different dips, a dill dip and ranch dip.
Add a bag of chips and tortilla’s.I make a party punch with
sherbet and ginger ale. Also I serve buffalo chicken wings
for the meat lovers
I like nacho cheese heated in the crock pot.

One of my favourite snacks to make for parties is veggie pizza squares — Pillsbury crescent roll crust topped with cream cheese and chopped veggies.
For a great Super Bowl party serve chili, guests can carry it around in large mugs, buffalo wings, layered dips and chips and as a centerpiece a Football Field Cake. Another idea is to give away footballs ad souveniers as a reminder of the party.

I amke many of my homemade dips ahead of time & freeze them.
Then when it’s party time ~I heat up the cheese dips & defrost the cold dips at room temp.
This helps a great deal to have them premade!
I like to always have snacks, dips and veggies on hand. I also make my own dips with seasoning, sour cream and vegetables
Parties at my house are sporadic and usually some type of potluck. Saves on time, energy and money when everybody pitches in with something. And everyone seems to feel more invested in a great outcome for the event. Oh…it makes for a much better clean-up if you provide compostable dinnerware whenever possible.

Make sure you over buy when buying food for parties. Better to have too much food than not enough. If you have extras you can incorporate them into your meals for the next week.

My fav party snack is to wrap little smockie sausage in half a biscuit and bake.

Party rye bread, mix Miracle Whip, parmesan cheese and oregano, spread on bread and broil. Don’t tell anyone what it is because they don’t like the sound of it, but everyone loves them.
