I am furious, for the lack of a better word at Gold Canyon Candles. Furious!
I hosted a giveaway in October, winner was contacted the first of November for a $50.00 Gift Certificate. Guess what? NO COMMUNICATION! Winner hasn’t gotten their prize and they aren’t replying to me OR the winner.

I am so upset over this. How rude and inconsiderate of this independent distributor to do this! How fast would it be to reply back with an email with a ‘reason’? Seriously – FOUR MONTHS??? I am going to contact the headquarters over this.
If you, as a company, do not hold up your end of the giveaway, please don’t allow a contest to be held.
Yes, I did it. I blogged about it. I am upset, when I take the time to do a post and host a giveaway, then you need to hold up your end. After this post is read, I will be taking down anything regarding this company. I refuse to give you free advertising for nothing.

That irritates me but when a review blogger does not respond, I feel that is worse. I experience wonderful bloggers but there are a couple that I have sent emails to in order to find out what happened and I get no response.

I had a rep email me as well at the end of last year. I never received a product to review though. It’s probably a good thing I didn’t. That’s horrible when a company flakes out on providing a prize. I would definitely be frustrated as well!

I agree that it is terrible something like this happened. As somone who participates in contests AND an independent distributor for another company, it’s disappointing.
BUT, I think an important clarification is that it was an INDEPENDENT distributor who failed to keep up their end of the agreement, not Gold Canyon Candles the company. As I understand it from the post, it was an independent distributor who contacted Tanya to run this review and giveaway.
While contacting the company might help in this situation, it really is a poor reflection on the independent distributor alone. Hopefully though, the company can do something to compensate the winner (and Tanya for her time to follow up on this!)
Just my two cents, hope it’s fixed soon.

wow! How unfair fo all your hard work and time you put into your blog and giveaways and unfair to the people that enter.
I am glad you outed them, they don’t deserve business if they are going to be shady.
Good luck! I hope you get answers!

I had the same problem with an independent distributor (not GC) and I went to headquarters and they contacted her and she fulfilled the giveaway item. I also had another one do it-Scentsy- and they won’t respond or send to winner either. Thanks for the heads up!

Wow…I’m sorry that you & your winner are having to deal with something like this. Gold Canyon should be ashamed of their business practices. Thank you for letting us all know so that we can avoid this company.

that is really unfair to your winner. I have had a few companies not send out prizes and it makes me upset that a company would agree to a giveaway and then not even communicate

Wow! That is REALLY bad. Sorry you had to deal with that, and sorry for the winner as well. Very unprofessional, yikes!

Sadly it seems to be happening more often. I had Modbe Jeans agree to a London Jeans giveaway and they went out of business in the weeks it ran…they had to of known??? No response or anything. Sadly there is nothing much we can do if they don’t fulfill there agreement.

That is absolutely ridiculous that you have to deal with this! I definitely won’t be giving them any sales and I considered Gold Canyon for a present for my Grandmother. Not after hearing this.

@Jenna @ For The Love of Baby,
I would blame the distributor not the company. My aunt sells Gold Canyon and they are fabulous candles…the only ones I burn. You should be fine if you find a distributor you know or trust! I wouldn’t let that ruin your opinion of the company so much as the person selling, ya know?

What a bummer. Maybe the headquarters will work with you. How frustrating! And how unfair for your winner. I know just what I’d get with $50 from Gold Canyon, too.

Wow, the nerve! Giveaways and reviews take a lot of time. I’m glad you blogged about it, that way all of us bloggers, and consumers will know about businesses like this.
