Hanes + Susan G. Komen = Race for the Cure Series T-Shirts *Giveaway* (6/23)

I have a dear friend that is a survivor of breast cancer, a friend that lost her sister to breast cancer and every year, I walk for Susan G. Komen to help raise funds and awareness for Breast Cancer. Actress Melina Kanakaredes is teaming up with Hanes and Susan G. Komen for the Cure® in the fight against breast cancer.

I am proud to be working with Hanes as they expand their partnership with Susan G. Komen for the Cure by becoming the Official T-shirt of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® Series. Komen will provide Hanes t-shirts to the 1.5 million people who participate in the series every year. For the second year, Hanes will offer a special “pink collection” of panties, bras, socks, and graphic tees — including three T-shirts exclusively designed by Melina Kanakaredes.

HANES Melina on set

Melina’s three specially designed T-shirts are meant to inspire and encourage others to join the fight against breast cancer. The T-shirts communicate strength, hope and fearlessness and were designed to honor those affected by breast cancer. Kanakaredes will also be featured in a series of Susan G. Komen for the Cure public service announcements dedicated to breast cancer awareness. In addition to these efforts that will raise awareness for the cause, Hanes will also make an aggregate cash and in-kind contribution of $500,000 to Komen in 2010.

This year as the Official T-shirt of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Series. That means that teams walking in Komen races can be outfitted in customized Hanes t-shirts! Are you making plans to walk for the cure? You can view the schedule can be viewed here: http://ww5.komen.org/findarace.aspx

My grandfather was a breast cancer survivor and growing up, I always asked him what had happened to his right breast. When he told me it was removed due to breast cancer, I was so surprised. I never knew that men could also get breast cancer. As my closest male relative, he taught me how to be strong and not let something like breast cancer beat you and break you.

Love the pink tshirt that was designed this year… with the words HOPE on it. Breast cancer took my Grandma many many years ago… but she was amazing at fighting it for years…. and then a friend lost both breast to cancer and has been fighting for 10 yrs……that was 6 yrs ago… when the doctors found a solid mass on a routine exam, I was not happy. After many tests and exams and being prodded and poked and pulled, they came to prep me and mark the area,…but they couldnt find the tumor the morning of surgery. A slew of doctors , nurses, technicians kept coming in to re-exam…Finally the doctor said to me, this is crazy, but it is gone! So I went home! Now I have been fighting inoperable spinal tumors that are eating through my spinal canal and bones… but I have HOPE!! the doctors told me I only had maybe a month to live… that was 3 1/2 yrs ago! I got off the exam table when the dr told me that (against their wishes) and said if I only had a month I was going to live it to the fullest… and thus began my fight for life, and greater education in alternative and complimentary health care. So, once again, I have hope…I am bedridden 70 percent of the time, but I LIVE!!
I love how the Breast Cancer awareness society brings together and encourages women from all around the world, of all ages..bringing all of us hope..for ourselves, our friends, and our loved ones…

I love this shirt! It’s really great!

I am walking in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure here in San Diego in November. We walk 20 miles for 3 days and even camp out in pink tents! This will be my first year doing it and I’m super excited.

I decided to walk this year because I lost a dear friend, Barbara Thomas, a few months ago. She had been battling breast cancer for over 5 years. I really miss her and wanted to do something awesome in her memory.

My children’s grandmother (on my exh-husband’s side of the family) passed away from advanced breast cancer in March, at the very young age of 58. My daughter is proud to wear her “Boobie” bracelets to spread the word about curing cancer and she wants to start some kind of walk in honor of her grandmother. If I win, I will give this shirt to my daughter.
