Help #ShareAMeal this holiday season

This holiday season, we cannot forget those that cannot afford a meal. While most of us are enjoying hanging out with their families and getting seconds on that hot meal, we all need to think about those that can’t afford that first plate of food. This holiday, we have been gathering food for our local food pantry and helping to cook meals for those that cannot afford a hot meal. Last month, we donated some food for local families to have hot meals for Thanksgiving, as well as taking extra food to a local event for those that may not have a hot meal of their own.

Right here in America, there are 16 million children struggling with hunger – thats the population of Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia and Chicago combined. Hunger’s youngest victims are often invisible in the United States, but the reality is, hunger in America has no boundaries – rural, urban and suburban – and with 1 in 5 children unaware where their next meal is coming from, one of these children could be your own neighbor or even your childs best friend. To help shed light on this issue and be a part of the solution, Unilever Project Sunlight is seeking your help to rally people across the country to Share A Meal to Help Turn the Tables on Child Hunger in America.”

To shine the light on what the face of child hunger in America looks like today, Unilever Project Sunlight is recruiting 100 influencers across the country to help raise awareness of the issue that likely impacts everyones neighborhood and unfortunately often goes unnoticed. From bloggers and influencers, to celebrities and youth activists, Unilever Project Sunlight is currently recruiting member for the #ShareAMeal100, to shed light on child hunger in America and inspire people to help.

Unilever Project Sunlight is an initiative focused on encouraging people to create a brighter future for children – by taking small steps to live sustainably, use less and share even more. This fall the initiative will be focusing on child hunger and will be encouraging all consumers to get involved and uncover the reasons they share they share a meal. On October 13th they will be premiering an original documentary, titled Going to Bed Hungry: The Changing Face of Child Hunger, which reveals the power and the promise of a shared meal for families across America.

Do you donate food to your local food pantry, church or food bank? This is a small act that has so many positive end results. Donating your time, extra food and money can help give that family a hot meal this Christmas. I’d love to hear from you and if you haven’t helped Share A Meal, Id like to help encourage you to give your hand and heart this holiday season.
