Those that know me know that I take a lot of pictures and videos. When I say a lot.. I say that lightly. I take a LOT! I have backed them up on DVD’s, CD’s, flash drives, external hard drives – you name it, I have tried it. I have thought about getting a server to host my pictures, videos, music and even my website, but the prices I have seen kind of scared me. Well, not only that, but the set up didn’t appeal to me either. I recently came across a server from HP that I am very excited about; not only on the price affordability aspect, but the space is wowza amazing! Yes, I said it – wowza.
Do you have a lot of pictures of your loved ones? How about videos? Music for your MP3? I can go on and on and on! I love that it can store up to 168,000 photos, 147,000 songs or 405 hours of video! This would be very helpful b/c we would be able to save tons of photos and videos that we would never want to lose. I’ve had my hard drive crash before and lost a lot of precious photos…I certainly never want that to happen again.
This would help us so much! My husband loves to take pictures and the photo storage would be great for us. Also, having the data backup would be a huge benefit as well.

It can help me by making my Hubby Happy — he is attracted to the fact that he can manage daily backups he’s paranoid about losing all his digital information – he would use it to back up the data on all three of our pcs especially the 10 years of digital pictures we have!
This would help my husband work from home instead of staying at the office for an excessive amount of hours without any overtime.

My Dad would like this a lot. He is the so called computer wizard of the family and it would allow him to consolidate everything in one place and duplicate copies of files.
Greatest thing about this is the automatic backups
I like that this product is from HP. It is a brand that I am familiar with and trust. I like that this product can store my digital pictures and videos. This could help me preserve and organize my memories. I would be so sad if I lost any of my pictures or videos. This could help my dad because he has lots of pictures that need to be archived in a safe way.

Having it back everything up regularly and automatically would be incredibly helpful. I don’t take the time to do that often enough and the peace of mind for the whole family would be wonderful.
This is exactly what our house needs. We have 4 computers total and pictures, songs, and videos on all of them. Having 1 storage place that would be accessible by all of the computers (2 desktops and 2 laptops) would make for more storage space on all of those PCs and make it so that nobody would ever have to search for a favorite song again! What a fantastic device this is. I don’t know if it can, but if this dealybob could also integrate as extra centralized storage for our DVR too, I’d but at least 1 of them right now! Here’s hoping that I win one reguardless — Thanks to Mommy Goggles and HP for the great contest and fantabulous prize!

So my Dad is obsessed with backing up his computer, but has never really found a great way to do this. He’s bought a few external hard drives but then can’t always figure out the software to do the backups. He would love that the HP media server can automatically backup his computer for him! Personally, I love the idea of being able to access your pictures from any computer with internet access – no more transfering to usb sticks and what not to bring to a friend’s house!

My husband would literally be doing the happy dance if I surprised him with this amazing HP MediaSmart Server LX195. He has been wanting to organize all of our image, video and music files as well as make sure all of our files are properly backed up so this would help me to achieve those goals so quickly, easily and effectively and would help him tremendously! What attracts me to this HP MediaSmart Server LX195 is that it automatically backs up, stores and accesses content from all Macs and PCs on our home network and will allow us to remotely stream music and photos from our computers, keeping us connected to our digital media no matter where we are. This will truly help Dad and the entire family in our everyday life because we will be able to save all of our files no matter where we are and it can be scheduled so even when we are away we are protecting our files. This will provide us with such peace of mind in knowing that our precious image and video files are safe. Last summer when the hard drive on our main computer died we lost so many of our beloved image and video files because we had not properly backed them up on a regular basis. It was heart breaking and a hard lesson to learn. Having this HP MediaSmart Server will make our life easier because we won’t have to worry about that ever happening again to us. This server will also make it much easier for us to share all of our files whenever we want to! I could go on and on about all the ways it will help us and make our life easier! Thanks so much for the chance to enter.

OHHH we could really use this!! My hubby is a realtor and does virtual tours on his properties. This would be great to store his tours. Plus I have a ton of pictures that I would be so upset if I lost.
WoW… what a great prize and to think that I’ve been looking into getting an external hard drive… for what reason? We love to take pictures and videos too and have tons of pictures on the hard drive. I would hate for our computer to crash and lose everything and we’re running out of space.
I love two things about this server… 1Gig is not bad but to think it can expand to 5 TB, that is fantastic, no more worries about running out of space for sure.
I also like that it’s superquiet. I work in a testing lab and with multiple servers, it’s always so loud but to have something at home that is fairly quiet and is so powerful would be wonderful.

The features of the HP MediaServer that appeal most to me are the Intel processor (a must!), the 1 GB storage capacity (and expandability), and, most of all, the automatic backup capability — because my family, and my dad in particular, has a huge collection of family photos, music files, and personal documents between us, most of which are on different drives or discs, it would be terrific to have a media server to centralize our storage for organization and easier access and to keep our files safe and secure. It would give my dad in particular peace of mind because he’s the one who has the largest digital music, photo, and film collection, and the one who’s always expressing worry about backing up his files and ours! Plus, having all of our collections in a central location will help us share and enjoy each other’s media much more. Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

I love that this can store so much media. I also love that it runs so quietly. My dad works in telecommunications so this would be perfect for him. Everything he does is on computers.
Dad and I like the Store up to 168,000 photos, 147,000 songs or 405 hours of video feature and it would help us because he has a brother in Germany, and my mom is 600 miles away, and we keep in touch by sending pictures ALOT. We lost alot of pictures a few years back when our computer crashed.
I like that it ■Automatically backs up multiple computers. My dad has 2 and needs the back up
I have media on different computers, especially mp3s and digital photos. Having them centralized (and backed up) would make it so convenient to access and organize them. would love to win this. thanks

This would make my life easier because it would make my husband happy. If he’s happy, I am happy!
I would love to store photos of my girlfriend and I.
We have tons of pictures from the digital cameras. My older son has music files and game files, while my younger son has autism-related resource files and educational games files. My husband tells me that this device works quite well as a backup device, in case of a hard-drive failure on one of the several household PCs — knock on wood it’s never really needed, but all it would take is for one of the battery-backup UPCs to glitch and spike and there we’d be, up a tree and untold memories lost… Roll those dice, Random.com!!
(BTW — I almost had to jump through hoops to get your site to load past about comment#45 or so, to give me access to this entry form — ever heard of a config problem on my end causing that??)

My husband and I both do a lot of graphic design. We take a lot of digital photos. We have a lot of family photos that DH has scanned and restored. We’re also about to get a Flip Mino, so we’ll need more storage space for the video. Our own server would be the answer to the digital storage dilemma!

Ackk! Looks like my original post got lost in cyberspace! I was saying that I recently bought a Sony PRS-505 ebook reader and I’ve spent the last three weeks buying new ebooks and downloading free ebooks and nearly crashed my hard drive with all the wonderful books just waiting to be read! The thought of losing all these just makes me sick. So I really need not only extra storage space but a backup plan and system as well. Sounds like just what I need!
I like that it is simple and easy to set up and use. We have a lot of pictures that this can help with.

Wow!! Ok, here’s the thing… I recently broke down and bought myself an ebook reader. Yep, I bought the Sony PRS-505. I LOVE it!! I love it so much I went on a downloading binge at gutenburg and almost crashed my hard drive!! But delete these wonderful old books I just spent weeks downloading? No way! I need extra storage space, and I need to know that they are backed up safely if I should want them again or – heaven forbid! – a major computer crash occurs. I’ve also purchased ebooks for this reader and that’s too much money to risk losing. Count me in for this giveaway!

The HP MediaSmart Server LX195 can help me first by creating a lot more free space on my computer that is currently allocated to storing photos, videos and music. The details that immediately caught my interest were the sizeable (and expandable) storage capacity and the automatic backup. And it helps Dad and me by storing all our digital materials in one area instead of playing hide-n-seek elsewhere in our main computer’s maze of programs and files.
this is so cool… i could really use this for the pix and videos of my family, also my movies online, and my music storage… that alone would help me so much and keep all the info safe.

I have several computers and websites to go along with them. This would give me a central place to put everything and clean up some of my computers
I currently have media scattered across shares on 4 different PCs. Navigating it all is a nightmare. It would be nice to have a single point for all of our media as well as a backup solution for those PCs. We have a 2 1/2 month old daughter, so I’m starting to collect lots of kids movies now for when she does get ready to watch them. Love the site, by the way!
I can stream video and other media to my XBOX360 and TVs throughout the house by using media extender. I can also stream video from the internet such as from youtube and Hulu. The media server will allow me to store not only photos but will backup by computers and play games as well. It is a great multipurpose server. I hope I win.
