Those that know me know that I take a lot of pictures and videos. When I say a lot.. I say that lightly. I take a LOT! I have backed them up on DVD’s, CD’s, flash drives, external hard drives – you name it, I have tried it. I have thought about getting a server to host my pictures, videos, music and even my website, but the prices I have seen kind of scared me. Well, not only that, but the set up didn’t appeal to me either. I recently came across a server from HP that I am very excited about; not only on the price affordability aspect, but the space is wowza amazing! Yes, I said it – wowza.
Do you have a lot of pictures of your loved ones? How about videos? Music for your MP3? I can go on and on and on! How would you like to be able to save these things from your house, or while on the go?Think of all the photos and songs you’ve collected over the years –what if your hard drive crashed and you lost all of it? The MediaSmart Server LX195 acts as a digital safe, offering storage and protection for all your digital treasures including photos, songs and videos.
The HP MediaSmart Server LX195 automatically backs up, stores and accesses content from all Macs and PCs on your home network and lets Dad remotely stream music and photos to his computer, keeping him connected to his digital media no matter where in the world he may be. What? From all computer PC’s and Mac’s? What? I have done some research on the HP MediaSmart Server LX195 and I am utterly giddy (yes, I said it) about this machine! I love technology and to know that a piece of technology can actually help?

To be able to acess my web file folers and pics from any internet computer would be fantastic. My son in college leaves his backup source at home all the time this would be the answer!
My entire family would love this! We have 3 computers that the four of us share and it would be wonderful to be able to back them up and be able to count on the backup. Plus we share a lot of photos and it would be great to have a central database we could all access easily.

Great gift for my bro the tech wizard. He’d have a blast using this for all the online things he does. He has a lot of music and photos and is setting up his computer to show movies on the tv too.
The feature that I think would be the most important is the ability to stream music and photos to any computer, while you’re at home or away! The HP MediaSmart Server LX195 is definitely a product I would like to own.

I love that it does an automatic backup so you’ll never forget to do it. We use our computer for everything and this would be a big sigh of relief to have!
Right now, we don’t have any way to back up our digital photos. This would certainly help with that. I like the automatic backup. This would enable us to share music libraries.

How The HP MediaSmart Server LX195 would help me & dad???
Dad has been a photofanatic forever! He loves to take landscapes, nature ( animals, flowers, ect.) He has rolls & rolls of pics I need to scan & backup for us! over 35 years worth just from when we wed! that is not to count to digital animal that came to live here too! Dad loves to snap away… but guess who gets the archival job???? Mom! I have a little digital as well as rolls of film pics that need to be saved… Mine are mostly of people, like our kids growing up, family reunions , grandkids… those are most important to me, but his are too….. I could have everything in one location & safe, and store the CDs I have burned already some place else! And maybe even have some room on my pc for NEW pics ( esp of grandkids!!)
So I would love to win this great piece of technology for dad & me
(fingers tightly crossed)

I don’t even want to talk about my photo problem. I have photos on my computer, on my phone, on my husband’s computer, on my mom’s computer and on various memory cards lying around. That says nothing about my music problem. My husband and I are fighting over space on his hard drive for all of our music. We are both avid music fans and like about 1 of the same artists. We have major memory issues. This could bring an end of the memory wars.

I can’t believe how nice this sounds! I’m always trying to find a way to back up pictures and videos and my husband is always talking of getting something like this. My hubby would think that he’d died and gone to heaven if he had something like this and since it can back up multiple computers we don’t have to worry about his school laptop or our desktop!
I need it, I want it. An awesome and essential addition to my in-home network.

This would truly help dad to be much more organized! The ability to stream video through the house and not take so long looking for the lost dvd that everyone falls asleep before the movie begins lol! Not to mention all the thousands of family photos that we could finally backup. I know backing up the pics would sure make me breathe easier! Thanks so much for the chance to win such a wonderful gift for dad. Happy Fathers Day everyone!
This would be a nice change for me as I’m stuck with a oooold comp that doesn’t have any space left to store any pics, movies or any kind of file !!!

This would simplify the backup process
It’s looks very stylish and has small dimensions. It can help any dad to manage digital family jewels like photos, music, videos and favorites. Daily backups can eliminate a lot of hassle and save time that can be spent on better things.

This would allow my dad to be able to easily back up his computer. His computer is a big part of his life and he seems to have problems with it frequently. Knowing the data is save and restorable would put his and my mind at ease.
I would love to win this, I have so many pics of my little girl, and she is only 1!! And another one on the way, so there will be plenty more to come, and hopefully video soon as well. This would be wonderful to keep it all in one place so I always know where to find it!!
My dad has so many photos that he just stores on his memory card in his camera! This would be great to back those up as well as any important documents he has.

THe HP Smartserver would be great for me and my husband. He is always telling me to back up my computer and save my photos and music but I never remember to do it. In November my entire computer crashed and I lost everything on there. You would think I learned my lesson but I have not backed up in months. All the pictures from the first 5 month of my daughter’s life are sitting on my computer (not backed up) and I would be crushed if I lost it all. Automatic back up would be great. Now that I think about it, I am going to back up my photos as soon as I get home.
I would be so very much less neurotic if I had this HP MediaSmart Server LX195. I have about five old computers scattered through my home collecting dust. No longer in use. Why are they here? My kids childhoods, in digital pix, are on these now defunct units. Just waiting to be removed, so we can recycle. Seriously I lay awake at night worrying about this.
Furthermore my home is wired for sound, but we have no way to stream our music collection. So I’d be carefree, jumping on the bed, dancing in the kitchen… you get the picture!
This would be THE ultimate gift to give my husband for father’s day. He works in IT and has a server built in our basement but it is out of leftover pieces he’s collected from former customers that said he could have it. He says he doesn’t know how long it will last so I’d love it if he won a new one.
oooooo. ooooooo. ooooooo. the hubs and i were just talking about these!!! between me and my photos and him and his music, we are the perfect candidates! ; )
My husband is the computer smart one in the family, so I know he’d love this to expand on his capabilities.

As far as being useful, with three people and four computers in our household, a place to store our music , pictures and important files that we can all use and access even though we have a mix of pc’s and one Apple is incredible.
Thanks for the chance to win!
My husband would love to have this because of the photo storage and more. My husband loves to draw and paint and he is always taking pictures to draw inspiration from.

Automatic backup of multiple computers has to be the main “attraction” for us!
This would solve the problem and it would be a huge time saver too!
We have 2 desktops, 3 laptops and a netbook, some are Macs, some are PCs!
It gets confusing sometimes
nice!
I would love to have this for the gazillions of pictures on my computer! I would be lost if something happened to them! I love that I wouldn’t have to remember to backup everything or worry that I will forget because it does everything for you! My husband would love this and he would be the one setting it all up.
It’s so nice to have a centralzed back up of everything and all computers in the house. If someone ‘accidently deletes’ their entire iTunes library, *boom* a few minutes later, all back up. Same with pictures. And the feature to host pictures on your own server is a Godsend, especially with kids.
The HomeServer will help me with my 300GB music, videos and photos and will make it easier to manage it and stream it. Also the backup function will help to save our 3 PC’s=).
Maybe he gets a TV card, so he can record my movies on the TV.

This Server would help us so much! I am working on a blog that we want to set up on a separate server but worry about the cost, effectiveness and capacity of such a server. The HP Server sounds perfect for our new blog. In addition, we have loads and loads of pictures on our home server. And, although I scrap many of them, we are always worried about losing them in the event of a computer crash. All of our photos are on my husband’s computer server, not mine, so an overload is definitely possible. To win the HP Server would be such a blessing for us.

I love that you can stream to your stereos and TVs through a gaming console (we have the PlayStation3). Hubby is a big electronics fan so he would go nuts for this! Thanks for the chance.
I set one up for my dad last year. It has been a life saver! In addition to easily storing all of his pictures on the home server, the automatic backup is incredible. His main HD completely failed and we were able to replace the HD and restore the data from the home server withing a few hours and it was exactly like it was before the failure! I can’t recommend a home server enough!
Wow! This could really help us out. We have a laptop that doesn’t work half the time and a desktop that does pretty much the same. I have hundreds of photos on my computers and we are starting a business so to be able to have back up would be so ideal!
