hp2Do you remember those days where you needed 40 CD’s to save and ‘back up’ your computer? Boy, I do! I have I don’t know HOW many CD’s from the previous years where I would back up (save) all of my data, pictures, videos, documents, music and anything else from my computer. I look at all these CD’s that I still have and I have to roll my eyes. Why didn’t someone come up with something more simple?

Well, HP has done just that, and then some! Now there is a product our called the HP SimpleSave Hard Drive. Why is this called “SimpleSave”? Because it is just that – SIMPLE! This is a portable hard drive that is available in 320- and 500-gigabyte capacities, and a SimpleSave Desktop, available in 1- and 2-terabyte capacities. Both devices feature preinstalled backup software.

What I LOVE the most about the SimpleSave drive is that there is no additional software needed to install. You plug, play and the SimpleSave backs up for you. Yes – it is THAT easy!

SimpleSave software automatically finds and backs up the data on the PC, and after the first backup, automatically updates the backup with file changes whenever the computer is idle.

A single SimpleSave drive can be used to back up all the PCs in the home, with data from each PC clearly identified by name on the drive to make finding and restoring a specific PC’s data a snap.

    What I love is the extra space to back-up family pictures and original artwork of mine. I only have a 30 GB hard drive on my desktop computer and it’s already gpt 28 GB used up, so I could really use the portable. Thanks for the contest! :-)

    The automatic backup on idle sounds absolutely splendid. Couple that with the storage capacity, and I’d finally have a more practical way to back up the excessive amounts of music, anime, and pics/videos of my son collected over the years. DVD’s are expensive. and take up a lot of room when you have stacks of them.

    I love the feature of staying current with backups: this device checks for file changes and backs them up every time your computer is idle. This would be great for me as I’m ashamed to say it but I don’t back up at all and one day I’m going to regret that. Thanks for a great giveaway!

    How can we choose just one reason that would be why we would love to have this portable back up hard drive?! I cant make up my mind which is more important. I think one thing that really hit me would have to be that it doesnt need a fan to stay cool even when running a long time…due to an internal cooling system.. and that it plugs into the USB not needing an extra cord dangling from your place of working…( for me its my bedside office!)..and
    then of course, the fact its just plug in and use it…it is that simple… thanks for a great review.

    Love the efficiency of powering devices thru the USB connection. That’s one less powercord/transformer plugged into the surge protector. Doubt if I’m the only one who has disconnected device and walked off only to find the power cord dragging along the powerstrip and potentially everything plugged into it.

    I think the best feature is that it backs up your computer automatically. In the past I had a computer die and lost so much irreplaceable data, yet I still rarely back up my files because it is such a hassle to burn everything to DVD-Rs. This would be the perfect solution.     Such a tough decision! I believe my favorite feature is the automatic backup. I am the first to admit that I can be a bit scatter-brained at times. This amazing little device would save me SO much stress & worry…not to mention a repeat of heartbreak I felt last year when my laptop crashed and I lost ALL of my data!

    My favorite feature is the large amount of storage space. I have years of my family’s digital photos and large slideshow files that are a huge pain to back up!     I love how small it is. Anything that takes up a lot of space doesn’t have a place in my life in my tiny little apartment with no storage. I would use this to back up my photos. Our computer fried and we got very close to losing all of our photos including the only copies of our wedding pictures. It was a wake up call.

    I like that it frequently back ups my data. It’s a great feature so I don’t have to worry about forgetting about manually backing my data up.

    I love that is is plug and play by USB. I’ve had problems in the past with back up devices that required unplugging the power supply.

    I like the simplesave software: SimpleSave software automatically finds and backs up the data on the PC, and after the first backup, automatically updates the backup with file changes whenever the computer is idle.

    I won’t have to figure out what all needs to be backed up and will auto start when I am not on the computer.

    i love the fact that this seemly small device has the ability to hold up to 500 gb of information and the user doesnt need not worry of losing their work. and this portable device will help me a lot do to the fact the i need more computer space.

    I love that it automatically backs up so I don’t have to remember. I lost 3 yrs of files and school work once. I never want to go through that again.

    My favourite feature is the Frequent backup update: Backs up new and changed files every time the PC is idle for five minutes. this is perfect because I constantly forget to back up everything!

    Wow — this thing sounds amazing. I bought a hard drive and a case for it to back up my files, but both times the external hard drive case has failed and I’m unable to both back up my current data or access my old data. It’s been so frustrating! I’d love to win this contest and be able to finally have a system that works!

This would save so much time and automatically save without me having to remember to do it.

    We have two desktop computers in our home. My husband has all of our photos stored on his computer, so I love that the SimpleSave can serve more than 1 computer. If my husband’s computer ever crashed, we’d lose all of our precious photos! I would sleep a lot sounder at night if we had the SimpleSave back up system. I love that no additional software is needed to install SimpleSave AND that it is powered by the PC’s USB 2.0 port and does not require an external power supply! Wonderful giveaway, thanks!
