Kellogg’s now provides FIBER! *Video Review*

When it comes to the foods my kids eat, I am better (now) at looking at the labels and making sure that my kids are getting all the nutritional needs that their growing bodies need.

Did you know that the statistics show that an average of 9 out of 10 kids lack enough fiber in their diets? I had no idea it was that high! Kellogg Company knows how tough of a time Moms have finding ways to increase their child’s intake, and they came up with a great solution by adding a boost of fiber to some of their most popular kids’ cereals. They started with two kids’ favorites: Apple Jacks and Froot Loops cereals, which now have three grams of fiber per serving and are currently available on grocery shelves. These cereals include ingredients such as whole-grain corn flour, whole-grain oat flour, oat fiber and soluble corn fiber. In addition, Kellogg Company plans to extend the added fiber benefits to their other cereal lines over the next year.

I grew up with Apple Jacks and Froot Loops cereals, so seeing how the company has changed (for the better) the products from many years ago, to include more daily fiber, really gives me an appreciation to that company more now than ever.

I try to make sure my kids get the fiber they need. Seeing how much they love Apple Jacks and Froot Loops, as well as I love having these as a snack during the day and knowing we are all getting a great source of fiber means a lot.

We were sent Apple Jacks with fiber, as well as Fruit Loops (one box had more fiber and one was regular).

We tasted them all and, to be honest, I could not taste a difference at all. The kids loved it and so do I (after all these years, I am still a Fruit Loop & Apple Jacks nut!) I was expecting the consistency to be different, but no change there! I was expecting a little taste difference in the two – nothing, nada, no change at all.

What did the kids think? You tell me!

Mom’s thoughts

  • As I said above, I love knowing my kids are getting the fiber intake they need and with the same classic taste that we all love! Kudos to Kellogg’s for this addition!
  • When I think about fiber, I think about a grainy texture and not a whole lot of flavor. These cereals have fiber in them, and frankly, you cannot tell, nor can you taste it.
