Today was a lazy day, that’s for sure. I woke up this morning and felt like I was on a 3 day hangover. Truly not a fun feeling. My blood sugar is completely out of whack, so I took the day ‘off’ to recuperate. Thank goodness for text messaging. I texted hubby to bring me some things. He just came home with some Powerade so I can get my sugars back up. So far, it seems to be helping. I was looking forward to watching LOST tonight, but thank goodness for DVR because I have a feeling that I will be in bed early. All emails will be replied to in the morning.
Any advice on keeping blood sugar regulated?
When I start to feel dizzy and nauseous, I usually can eat a cookie and feel better, but today was just wacky. How sad is it that I was so busy yesterday that I forgot to eat. Lessons learned.

Your best bet is to talk with the doctor, but cookies are really not so good because they are not long acting glucose, peanut butter is better for you because it lasts longer and has protein in it, provided you have no allergy. I have had a problem with this also, and it can lead to a horribly debilitating migraine. I need to eat a small amount 5 times a day and avoid large amounts of processed sugars (like cookies).
But, again, you really need to discuss it with your doctor because a fluctuation of blood sugar from really low to really high like you get from processed sugars then the crash after they are metabolizedd is really not good for your system and you could faint – which is not good if you are driving, especially with the kids in the car.
Good luck and I hope you feel better soon. Hugs!

I just read this and I have the SAME thing! The other morning I was changing Olivia and almost fell out! I have never felt so horrible in my life. I think mine is from dieting so hard for so long and eating through out the say to not eating until I am supposed to, (3 meals a day) on my days off…I had to drink orange juice and eat peanut butter sandwich. The ideal things to eat as a diabetic…I am with you on this one. I have a Dr appt next month and I am getting this checked. I will keep you updated

There are a lot of blood glucose monitors out there (some you can get for free from a lot of these “freebies of the day” sites. HOWEVER…..you need to consult your doctor to see what you’re levels *should* be, and how much leeway you have on either side before there’s a problem.
Be diligent, though. I’ve seen the problems Wendy has to endure, and if you can avoid that, DO IT! (BTW, have you read that adding cinnamon to your diet can help a lot in stabilizing blood sugar? Pretty painless way to do something good for your health…)

Are you diabetic? Or pre-diabetic? Watch those levels…that can be really dangerous. Wendy has had episodes where her blood sugar was so low that the hospital was unable to measure it! She frequently goes all the way down to the 30′s…

@Judith, I have never been diagnosed. I had low blood sugar when I was younger and would just eat a cookie, take a sugar tablet to make myself feel better. I need to see if there’s a machine that I can get to keep tabs on it.
