I clearly remember in 2001 when Monsters, Inc. was released. This was (and still IS) my ultimate favorite movie! The cast is perfectly chosen for the characters, the emotions in the movie are so real and the animation is amazing and fun! John Goodman are back and Billy Crystal are back and better than ever!
If the movie in 2001 wasn’t great enough, on November 10th, a digitally mastered version that are four disks that includes a DVD copy, BluRay, bonus features and even a Digital Copy was released. Why does this impress me? We have a DVD player in the playroom & in our van, so we can use the DVD copy in those places. We have BluRay capability in our living room, so we can watch the BluRay copy there as a family, as well as the Digital Copy is on my iPod for when we travel or fly. Four great disks all in one package.

While the DVD copy is just as I remember: tons of laughter and lots of fun, the BluRay and extras are so cool! On Disk 1 of the BluRay, you have your basic movie, on BluRay, of course. There are also bonus features such as ‘behind the scenes’, which are really cool to see, as well as the commentary from the filmmakers talking about the entire creation of the movie and characters. On this same disk, there are two fun bonus films that both were nominated and won best animated short film in 2001: For the Birds and Mike’s New Car.

On Disk 2, (Bonus Features) there are games that you can play along to, a fun factory tour that Tucker really enjoyed seeing, as well as I did since this movie is one of my faves! This plant tour shows offices of Pixar employees, miniature doors that lead you to different rooms that is mostly ‘deleted scenes’ that weren’t included in the main movie. You are able to watch parts of the movie that lead back to the original story. We watched this one, but don’t really see it being watched again. It is fun to see the extras, but the main movie is good enough for us.

The Disk 3 is the DVD copy along with some extra features as well, and Disk 4 is what I love, as a parent. I travel a lot, so it was neat to be able to add the digital copy to my iPod. I am a kid at heart, what can I say?
