Guest post from Cat:
I am back and ready to talk about something that is in my life more than it probably should be. It is something that I partake in everyday and can honestly say if I didn’t I would probably not be normal. It is my medicine; I am talking about coffee! Before I became a wife and mother of 3 (at least a decade ago), I worked in a position that had me traveling on a regular basis. Because of this traveling and my love of coffee I have tried my fair share of gourmet coffee, restaurant coffee, gas station coffee, airport vending machine coffee, and instant coffee. Instant coffee was my least favorite, but when you need a fix you need a fix right? The Instant Coffee I would get was usually at a hotel we were staying at and it always seemed to be the same, regular coffee that would never dissolve so you were drinking coffee grounds, it tasted bitter, and always left a nasty after taste. So, when Mommy Goggles and Nestle asked me to review Nescafe` Taster’s Choice Instant Coffee to decide “what flavor I was”, I will be honest and say that I was not looking forward to it at all. But, I am a big fan of Nestle and of Mommy Goggles so I said ok and I traded my Gourmet coffee for a week for Nescafe` Taster’s Choice. I received a gorgeous box with coasters, two logoed coffee cups, and the Single Serve Instant Coffee Packets. The flavors were Original, Decaffeinated, Columbian, Gourmet Roast, Hazelnut, and Vanilla.

Day 1: So, my week began reluctantly as I am not a fan of instant coffee. I started the week out with the decaffeinated. I heated up water from my Coffee Machine, emptied the packet of decaffeinated Taster’s Choice Instant Coffee in my travel coffee cup and added 6oz of hot water from my machine. I smelled it first hesitant to try it knowing what I have had in the past. Typically I add cream and sugar to my coffee but I figured if I was going to do this I was going to go all the way. It smelled ok. It smelled like brewed coffee and I didn’t see any coffee granules floating in my cup. I added a lid and headed off to work. I always let my coffee cool down on the way to work and sip it periodically on my 30 minute drive. The first sip I took surprised me. It was pure coffee and it tasted like it. One day down.
Day two: I tried the original, still with reluctance. Again I brewed it the same way and smelled it as well as looked for any floating specks of coffee granules. It smelled ok and I didn’t see any speck of coffee grinds floating in my cup. Again no cream and no sugar a lid and off to work. The original is not Starbucks and it’s not the Gourmet coffee we have at work but I could drink it on a daily basis and feel good about it. I know my wallet would certainly appreciate it! Let’s see what day three and the Gourmet Roast brings to the table!
Day Three: Gourmet Roast, brewed the same. Smelled ok, looked great, and tasted great too! This flavor is full bodied and a much darker roast than the original. The week was looking up, though I was not looking forward to the next day with Hazelnut just because I am not a Hazelnut fan, but I made a commitment.
Day four: Hazelnut, brewed the same. It smelled nutty and not in a good way, it looked good (no granules), it tasted not overwhelming or sweet. I was not impressed or disappointed just happy that this one was over. All in all it was a fair cup of coffee. Since I don’t like the flavor in the first place I thought it worked.
Day five: Vanilla, brewed the same way, smelled ok, looked good, tasted like heaven! I know I have one more day left but I think I may have found my Flavor!! The vanilla flavor is stronger than the Hazelnut. It was smooth and mild. I wouldn’t need to add cream or sugar to this cup of coffee if I were drinking it on a regular (daily) basis. I do have one more flavor to try though so let’s get to day six and on day seven I will go back to my favorite.
Day six: 100 % Columbian, brewed the same way, this one smelled better than the rest, stronger, and it tastes bold, full bodied and not like instant at all. Pretty strong for instant coffee! I liked it more than I was expecting. It’s better than the Original, and easily the best non-flavored of the group. So, is this what flavor I am? Let’s see what day seven brings.

Day Seven: Did you know that Coffee is the most popular drink world wide with over 400 billion cups consumed each year and that the average cup of coffee is $4 at your local coffee house. At three times a week that’s more than $500 a year…….. The hands down winner for me was and is the Vanilla! It was truly the perfect cup for me because of the smooth mild delicious flavor of vanilla. Though I won’t be trading in my brewed coffee for instant I will be buying some single serving packs to keep in my car and purse when I need a pick me up and don’t want to risk the chance of an awful gas station coffee or loose my shirt paying for the gourmet coffee from the coffee shop.

Thanks Mommy Goggles and Nestle for giving me the opportunity to try something new and for changing my prospective on Instant Coffee. Taster’s Choice Vanilla is the choice for me!
