Nintendo DSiXL *Review*

We love to game. One of my favorite things to do is to cuddle with Tucker and we play Nintendo DS games. We had the opportunity to check out the new Nintendo DSiXL.

Features

  • Two screens, 93% larger than Nintendo DS Lite
  • 3 pre-installed titles + built-in software
  • A large stylus tailor-made for easy use

Enjoy all of the features of the original Nintendo DSi system in a plus-sized package.

Here are some comparison pictures between the Nintendo DS Lite & the Nintendo DSiXL.

Not only does the DSiXL have the regular pen stylus so that you can use on the screen for certain games, it also includes a full size pen stylus. This is the size of an actual PEN.

Full Size Stylus
Touch control for your favorite games just got a whole lot easier. Use this full size, easy to hold stylus for added precision when playing on the larger screens

We do love the size and screen size of the DSiXL. If you are one to travel with smaller size items, the DSiXL is larger to travel with. The screen is amazing, I have to add! I can see this being a huge hit with the older crowd. Why? Because people, such as my mother in law, love to play games on the DS, but the screen is so small. I think this is a great gift idea for mom, mother in law, grandma – anyone who loves games, but doesn’t care to squint. I, myself, love the size, the clarity of the screen, the sound, and of course all of the features!

You can take pictures with the DSiXL and you can connect to your Wi-Fi at home and upload to places, such as Facebook. Tucker and I were playing around and took and played around with this picture:

I had an issue getting the Wi-Fi set up, but once it was set up, it was good to go. I am not sure why I had the issues that I did. My only guess is the security within our home server and router was causing the DSiXL not to connect. You can actually browse the internet with the DSiXL.

How much is the Nintendo DSiXL? When you log on to the Nintendo website, you can choose between Bronze or Burgandy, select your retailer (such as Walmart), then it will take you to that retailer’s website. From there, you will see their current price. Walmart’s current price for Burgandy is $188.54. How does this price compare to the DSi or DS Lite? You are looking at about a $20 price difference between the DSi and the DSiXL. Is the price worth it? I believe it is worth it. For the games that you get preinstalled on the DSiXL, the size difference, the Wi-Fi capabilities and the stylus choices – I do feel that the unit is nicely priced and very much worth the price.

Overall? We love everything about the Nintendo DSiXL! The size, the games, the capibility, the endless fun, and even the price is a nice fit.
