Out of the Mouths of Babes: Parenting From a Child’s Perspective

 book

Anyone with more than one child – or anyone who has ever read a parenting book – knows that parenting is not “one size fits all.” When I am not blogging or chasing after the family, I like to sit down and relax with my cat, blanket and a nice book. Thanks to Mom Central, I had an opportunity to check out a book called Out of the Mouths of Babes: Parenting From a Child’s Perspective. This was a nice book to read, as I could relate to it completely!

The main character, Dyan Eybergen, is a pediatric psychiatric nurse, parent educator, therapist, and mom of three boy. Which is why her approach, cultivated over years of professional experience and 10 years of parenting, is meant to help parents understand their child’s thoughts and point of view and respond to them in a way that fits their personality and level of development. This style of parenting, based on attachment theory, helped Dyan and her husband raise three boys of incredibly different temperaments without the worry and guilt that so often comes with raising children. The book’s 8 thorough chapters cover everything from potty training and sleep to sibling rivalry and self-esteem, all with related quotes from children of different ages dealing with these very issues. Whether you are a new or a seasoned parent, Dyan will certainly put the common situations that every parent faces in a new light, provide you with a wealth of new insights, and hopefully let you leave behind some of the guilt and worry as well.

This book is highly recommended to you all. You can find this on Amazon.com.
