I take pictures. I mean, I take a LOT of pictures. Last year, I was in tears, beyond words, because I had lost everything off of my external hard drive. I lost 2 years worth of pictures, videos, documents, memories, you name it. Thankfully we have a family website where all our kids’ pictures and videos were uploaded so they were able to help restore most of what we lost from our hard drive crash. I can tell you that I put way too much faith in to my external hard drive, and this is something that never will happen again. My pictures are precious. All pictures are precious. We can only capture that moment, at that moment.

I recently was introduced to a product that, I believe, will be a true picture saver and must have for any household that is like me (takes a lot of pictures!) It is called Picture Keeper. What is Picture Keeper? It is basically a USB drive that fits in the palm of your hand and backs up all of your pictures on your computer; automatically!

dsc_9819

pklogoPicture Keeper has software installed ON the USB drive, itself, so no need to go to download software from a CD, or from a website and download un-needed software that takes up space on your computer. I LOVE this!

Just insert the Picture Keeper drive into any USB port on your PC, click “Start Backup” and Picture Keeper automatically finds and saves all your pictures. That’s it! They all fit right there on the Picture Keeper drive. What’s more, subsequent backups are fast because Picture Keeper will only copy the newest images when you use it again to save your recently added or changed pictures.

And because Picture Keeper’s software runs right from the USB drive, you’ll be able to easily save pictures on multiple PCs (up to the drive’s capacity). I tried this out on my desktop AND my laptop. It saved images from BOTH computers.

Here is a video to show you how Picture Keeper works, from my laptop:

usb8gb1Users can also choose the more “advanced” options which allow you to select additional types of files or directories you want saved.

What size do I need? Click Here!
Specifications:

  • Windows XP/Vista
  • 512 MB RAM
  • ReadyBoost Compatible
  • USB 2.0 and 1.1 Compliant
  • Advanced Options Available Features:
  • 1 Year Warranty
  • Easy to Open Packaging
  • Lanyard Included
  • 30 Day US Based Support
  • Reminder Service

I am using the 8GB Picture Keeper. I have a Nikon D80, as well as I use a Casio Exilm that I use to take images for my blog reviews, as well as for personal use. I have both cameras set to take images at the highest resolution, so the files are pretty large. After I backed up over 1140 images to my Picture Keeper, I still had 84% left on the picture keeper. Amazing! Simply AMAZING! With a 8 GB Picture Keeper, it’s a snap to save up to 8,000 pictures! And because there’s no software to install, it’s that much easier. Also, the Picture keeper is Apple/Mac OS compatible!

Another thing that I LOVE is that you can set up a reminder on the Picture Keeper website. Why do you need this? Well, we all get busy in our lives, so it is nice knowing that we have a reminder that will be emailed to us knowing when our next scheduled back up will be. Love it!

My cousin’s wedding photographer bailed on her, so I ended up taking the pictures. This would have been a great way to send her the raw and edited images. In fact, if I don’t win one, I might need to buy one to put those pics in the safety deposit box.

This happened to me a few days ago. My fiance reformatted the hard drive without giving me a chance to transfer my files to another location. I think Picture Keeper can help save my precious memories by making it easy to back up my data.

Yes, I’ve lost my photo before. :( My hard drive crashed about a year ago, and I lost most all of my photos that I had saved on there (except a few I had saved on a couple web sites).

I lost everything once when my computer died and it was devastating! I have pictures stored in files all over my computer, this would be such a great way to gather them together and store them safely. Thank you for the opportunity to participate in this useful giveaway!

I lost everything on my comp nearly a decade ago. It was very upsetting.

13 Charlene Kuser June 27, 2009 at 10:17 pm

I would choose the 8GB if I win.I have had a virus on my computer and had
to reinstall everything,so this is a blessing,I like that it finds your pics
and saves them and when you post new ones it saves them.Picures are way to
important to lose.

14 Janet June 27, 2009 at 10:12 pm

I’d pick the 8GB drive. i’ve lost lots of pics 2 the computer in my life.

The 8GB would be so grand for us – we really need to protect, save and organize our photos which are both personal and also used in creative and artistic ways – we only save the pics that we really value – so if we ever lost them we’d be crushed!

I had 2 have my computer wiped out and reloaded. So it is pretty scary.
I really could use this product 2 help keep that from happening to me again. Thanks for the opportunity 2 win this giveaway

About a year ago, I had a hard drive crash on me and we lost a LOT of photos. I was sick to my stomach and now try to remember and backup on CD’s. But, sometimes I forget. So at anytime, I could lose some.

This picture keeper would make life so much easeir for sure

I haven’t lost any pictures yet but I thought I had. I was able to recover them. Now I have to use a big clunky external hard drive and it’s a big PITA to get stuff on and off of it.

I love this little gizmo because it finds the pictures for me and saves them automatically. Now that is sweeeeeeeet!

46 Trish Gannon June 27, 2009 at 6:45 am

I had saved some photos to a disc and recorded over them. With Picture Keeper this can’t happen.

47 Paula Harmon June 27, 2009 at 5:15 am

My 14 yr. old daughter copied all our pics onto cds, but now I have a stack of unmarked cd’s and I don’t know what is on what cd, plus, there’s a bunch of them. I love the size of the picture keeper.

48 susan June 27, 2009 at 1:57 am

I lost pictures of my cat, when he was a kitten to me it was so sad :(

49 Laura June 27, 2009 at 1:06 am

We had a computer person who supposedly put our pictures on an external hard drive for us before he cleaned off the hard drive on our PC. These were the baby pics for two of our six kids and other various pictures of the entire family. Now one of my sons has been diagnosed with a terminal condition and I don’t have his baby pictures. I’m also missing the pictures from the adoption of one of my daughters.

I would love to have the 8mb one. I never want to go through the heart ache of losing more pictures.

55 Auriette June 26, 2009 at 11:21 pm

We’ve lost photos because we backed them up onto a CD with a program that allowed us to keep adding items to the CD. Then Internet Explorer came out with a new version that killed the software, so any CDs that weren’t finalized were basically useless.

We have all our pictures on a computer that has broke down constantly. At 8 gb it would hold my entire collection. It always worries me when my pics are on different disks etc and harddrives so one individual unit to keep everything would be cool and its not easy to get to as a computer file etc. I have lost files to kids hitting the wrong button ….That sucks . First, I would think I’d had a deprived techno-geek upbringing if I had not experienced at least one computer crash where I lost virtually everything stored on my computer – the only items salvageable were the monitor, keyboard and CPU housing. And I have a feeling that whoever created the Picture Keeper USB drive has gone through the same issue. Also, the feature I really appreciate about the Picture Keeper (other than saving my, uh, pictures) is the backup reminder. ;)

94 Theresa D June 25, 2009 at 6:15 am

Last year I was putting 8 years of photos on to disc. I was called out side by my husband just as I had highlighted all my memories. Not thinking I just got up and went outside. A few minutes later I heard my Great Danes being naughty inside so I went in to see what was going on. One of them was uo on my coutch and sitting on my laptop. I freaked and yelled at her to get down. When I got to my computer I was horrified to see that her big booty had hit the delete button. Franticly I went to my trash can on my desktop to retrieve them but they weren’t there. I was unable to recover any of them. The hardest was the pics of my dog that had to be euthanized due to cancer a few months before this happened. All but 2 pics of him are gone forever. This device is ingenious!

All I have to say is that I absolutely love it. I need one of these Picture Keepers so badly. I have a great passion for photography so I have loads of photographs. I usually back them up on a CD but they really do not hold much, takes forever, and is so annoying. Having one of these Picture Keepers would really really really help me a lot because I could keep all of my photographs on one unit in one place. And it so easy to use. Plus I can take them anywhere and have easy access to them all. I so glad that you made me aware of this product. I gotta have one.

I lost a whole year of pictures… the year my daughter was born because my husband thought he was helping me clean up my laptop and deleted all of my pictures that he thought I had copies of or put on CDs already. I was able to get most of the pictures because my mom had copies of my CD’s but it was a pain in the butt to have to re upload them again and make a new CD. This would be great!

115 Lauren June 22, 2009 at 8:36 am

This would allow an easy way to store my pictures (in addition to my laptop).

133 amber r June 21, 2009 at 1:08 am

I would like the 8 gb if I won because I take many pictures of my sister’s goffy animals. It would be a great place to store my pictures since it is not safe to store pictures on the computer. Every now and then someone at my house does something to the computer and everything is erased.

139 Char June 20, 2009 at 4:24 pm

We thought we were being smart by storing all the pictures of the kids on an external hard drive as well as on the computer. Well, the house was broken into and the thieves stole the computer. Thankfully, they did not think to also take the hard drive which was sitting RIGHT THERE! Now I’m scared. If I could dump everything on something as small as the picture keeper, it could go where I go.

140 Rebecca June 20, 2009 at 2:31 pm

I just had a baby boy about 7 weeks ago. After leaving the hospital we discovered that the camcorder had stopped working. Somehow messing up the tape of our sons first moments in the world. I am unable to get the tape out because I can’t get the door to open. A couple weeks ago, my camera also gave us a big scare when it stopped working. It just sat there….screen black and light blinking. Luckily somehow…it decided to work again for the time being. I was completely devastated to think we had lost all of the pictures of our new baby as well. Every picture we had ever taken of him was still on the camera. This has now taught me to be very careful with my picture memories. I would love to win this Picture Keeper to help make our lives a lot easier. Thanks for the chance!

143 Alex June 20, 2009 at 6:58 am

I hope you never have to go through what I’ve been through…

Imagine my surprise when I opened my comp(an old comp I might say) to find out that the HDD crashed and I lost all my son’s pic since the day o his birth till now…..

Luckely, I send some of those pics to my parents and this way I got some of them back but most of them(80%) are gone for good…

This USB drive(8 Gb) would make me feel more secure when it comes to my photos.

Thanks.

Mother’s day weekend my computer crashed. It is under warranty from Dell. The guys on the phone said they were going to be sending someone out to fix it. They said I would lose any information on it. I totally freaked out. For the past year I have neglected to print my daughter’s pictures and I was going to lose all of them. I also embroider, I have LOTS of money invested in designs and I was going to lose them all too. I had been meaning to back up my files to CD’s and external hard drive, but kept putting it off. So, I had to pay someone a fortune to recover my data before it was destroyed. Thankfully he was able to save everything important. This would allow me to save my most precious memories of my daughter.

146 Dani June 19, 2009 at 8:00 pm

I did one time lose all of my pictures. It was horrible!! Now I try to back up with as many avenues as I can and this would be one more that would help save my memories!

147 Katie74 June 19, 2009 at 5:13 am

I have been fortunate not to lose every thing on my computer, although I have lost some pictures when I formatted my hard drive and forgot to save a folder. The picture keeper would allow me to save my pictures next time without having to search all my folders.

When our old computer died last year it was without warning and I was freaking out! I LOVE to take pictures and since our son was born almost 2 years ago I have gone a little crazy with the picture taking. I couldn’t believe that all those pictures could just disappear like that! Luckily I had done a website so I had those and we were able to get a few off our hard drive, but it still is hard to think of all those that I don’t have anymore.

155 Sonya June 18, 2009 at 1:25 am

The only pictures that I lost were in the pre-digital era. Undeveloped films, exposed films, lost rolls, etc.
Since photography became digital I’m proud to say that I haven’t lost any so far! But that’s only because I always backup all our photos :)
In order to continue to do so, it would be nice to win this because you can never have to much GBs for storing memories!

159 Cynthia Shern June 16, 2009 at 6:30 am

JeansandTs@hotmail.com
I ran out of room for picures. I decided that the printing sites like Kodakgallery and Shutterfly that let you put “albums” on them were the key. so I uploaded all my photos and then deleted them from my computer. First, I found out I couldn’t get them back when I needed to print or post one… You have to order a print…. then, when you don’t order after a certain amount of time they erase your album…. when I found out I almost died!! All my photos are GONE. I think an 8 GB picture keeper could save me from having this happen again. I would have the control over my own photos.

160 Lusea Lewis June 15, 2009 at 10:23 pm

the big black out toronto had 5-6 years ago(or more?) when the power came back on i FRIED my computer and I lost everything. every baby picture of my two nephews for the first 6 and 4 years of thier lifes, as well as all the family birthday parties and holiday pictures I had. I could only get back the few I had posted online or saved on cd’s but over %90 were lost forever. I now have my own son and am terrified that somethign will happen to my computer and I will lose all his baby pictures.

Oh my god! your story is just like mine. I had years of photos on my computer and just last year I had lost every thing due to a hard drive crash. My computer guys tried his best to save any thing from it but no luck. I wish I know about those picture keepers it would have saved me from a lot of tears and heartache. I am a scrapbooker and when I lost all those photos I kicked myself for not getting any prints done. I have gotten into a routine as soon I load my pictures onto my computer to save what photos I want to a jump drive and get prints made A.S.A.P
I think I would like one of those picture keepers. I like to get my hands on the larger picture keeper I love it that it stores so many photos (8000) plus it founds the photos automatic.

When my son was a baby I had over two thousand pictures saved on my computer. Along came a lovely virus that completely fried my computer and I lost all my pictures. I was devastated!! I totally need this device to keep my pictures safe!!!

I just recently purchased a digital camera and keep most of my pictures on the computer. It is scary to think that in the blink of an eye they could all be gone is something were to happen to my computer. With and item like this I could keep them all on there as well and know that if something were to happen I would still have those memories safe

I have never lost all of my photos, but my brother did delete a folder containing some old schools photos from 2006-2007 that are now lost and gone forever. A few are in small files on Facebook but it’s not the same.

I have never lost any of those things. But I have lost my keys, does that count?

Any picture keeper of any kind is a breath of air knowing that my memories are saved somewhere besides my computer.

I have never lost pictures on my computer-yet. But I have all my pics that haven’t been printed on one computer. It would be great to have them backed up elsewhere.

I’m really paranoid about backing up my photos to DVDs and secondary harddrive.

The 8G Picture Keeper seems really easy to use. I would give this to my father because he needs something easy to use.

I would pick the 8GB if I win. We have lost pictures, still trying to retrieve, from our old computer. We lost track of bunches of pictures in our big move from Indiana to upstate New York. Still searching out these. Would love to have all of our pictures scanned, digitalled and protected with the picture keeper. Much needed.

This would definately protect our precious memories. Pictures are the truest keepsakes of our sweet times with our babies, watching them grow up so quickly. Pictures are the way to hang on to it.

Blessings

i’m new to computers (my kids aren”t, my little one teethed on a computer mouse! unplugged of course) but if the pictures of my son at Disneyworld got lost in the computer i would be DEVASTATED. devastated.
