Preserve & Back Up those Memories with Picture Keeper *Review & Giveaway*

pk-logo250

I take pictures. I mean, I take a LOT of pictures. Last year, I was in tears, beyond words, because I had lost everything off of my external hard drive. I lost 2 years worth of pictures, videos, documents, memories, you name it. Thankfully we have a family website where all our kids’ pictures and videos were uploaded so they were able to help restore most of what we lost from our hard drive crash. I can tell you that I put way too much faith in to my external hard drive, and this is something that never will happen again. My pictures are precious. All pictures are precious. We can only capture that moment, at that moment.

I recently was introduced to a product that, I believe, will be a true picture saver and must have for any household that is like me (takes a lot of pictures!) It is called Picture Keeper. What is Picture Keeper? It is basically a USB drive that fits in the palm of your hand and backs up all of your pictures on your computer; automatically!

dsc_9819

pklogoPicture Keeper has software installed ON the USB drive, itself, so no need to go to download software from a CD, or from a website and download un-needed software that takes up space on your computer. I LOVE this!

Just insert the Picture Keeper drive into any USB port on your PC, click “Start Backup” and Picture Keeper automatically finds and saves all your pictures. That’s it! They all fit right there on the Picture Keeper drive. What’s more, subsequent backups are fast because Picture Keeper will only copy the newest images when you use it again to save your recently added or changed pictures.

And because Picture Keeper’s software runs right from the USB drive, you’ll be able to easily save pictures on multiple PCs (up to the drive’s capacity). I tried this out on my desktop AND my laptop. It saved images from BOTH computers.

Here is a video to show you how Picture Keeper works, from my laptop:

usb8gb1Users can also choose the more “advanced” options which allow you to select additional types of files or directories you want saved.

What size do I need? Click Here!
Specifications:

  • Windows XP/Vista
  • 512 MB RAM
  • ReadyBoost Compatible
  • USB 2.0 and 1.1 Compliant
  • Advanced Options Available Features:
  • 1 Year Warranty
  • Easy to Open Packaging
  • Lanyard Included
  • 30 Day US Based Support
  • Reminder Service

I am using the 8GB Picture Keeper. I have a Nikon D80, as well as I use a Casio Exilm that I use to take images for my blog reviews, as well as for personal use. I have both cameras set to take images at the highest resolution, so the files are pretty large. After I backed up over 1140 images to my Picture Keeper, I still had 84% left on the picture keeper. Amazing! Simply AMAZING! With a 8 GB Picture Keeper, it’s a snap to save up to 8,000 pictures! And because there’s no software to install, it’s that much easier. Also, the Picture keeper is Apple/Mac OS compatible!

Another thing that I LOVE is that you can set up a reminder on the Picture Keeper website. Why do you need this? Well, we all get busy in our lives, so it is nice knowing that we have a reminder that will be emailed to us knowing when our next scheduled back up will be. Love it!

My cousin’s wedding photographer bailed on her, so I ended up taking the pictures. This would have been a great way to send her the raw and edited images. In fact, if I don’t win one, I might need to buy one to put those pics in the safety deposit box.

This happened to me a few days ago. My fiance reformatted the hard drive without giving me a chance to transfer my files to another location. I think Picture Keeper can help save my precious memories by making it easy to back up my data.

Yes, I’ve lost my photo before. :( My hard drive crashed about a year ago, and I lost most all of my photos that I had saved on there (except a few I had saved on a couple web sites).

I would choose the 8GB if I win.I have had a virus on my computer and had
to reinstall everything,so this is a blessing,I like that it finds your pics
and saves them and when you post new ones it saves them.Picures are way to
    important to lose.

The 8GB would be so grand for us – we really need to protect, save and organize our photos which are both personal and also used in creative and artistic ways – we only save the pics that we really value – so if we ever lost them we’d be crushed!

I haven’t lost any pictures yet but I thought I had. I was able to recover them. Now I have to use a big clunky external hard drive and it’s a big PITA to get stuff on and off of it.

I love this little gizmo because it finds the pictures for me and saves them automatically. Now that is sweeeeeeeet!

We had a computer person who supposedly put our pictures on an external hard drive for us before he cleaned off the hard drive on our PC. These were the baby pics for two of our six kids and other various pictures of the entire family. Now one of my sons has been diagnosed with a terminal condition and I don’t have his baby pictures. I’m also missing the pictures from the adoption of one of my daughters.

I would love to have the 8mb one. I never want to go through the heart ache of losing more pictures.

I’ve never really lost my photos, but when I got my new laptop I put all the files from my old one on cd which I actually found to be kind of annoying and I never use it. I’d love to have this as a central storage for all my family’s pictures!

  55. 219
    Auriette says:

We’ve lost photos because we backed them up onto a CD with a program that allowed us to keep adding items to the CD. Then Internet Explorer came out with a new version that killed the software, so any CDs that weren’t finalized were basically useless.

We have all our pictures on a computer that has broke down constantly. At 8 gb it would hold my entire collection. It always worries me when my pics are on different disks etc and harddrives so one individual unit to keep everything would be cool and its not easy to get to as a computer file etc. I have lost files to kids hitting the wrong button ….That sucks .
