Give a gift that gives back: (PRODUCT) RED Special Edition iPod nano

I have always been an iPod lover, but more so in the last couple of years. Technology amazes me and the things that Apple has come up with to improve the iPod nano simply amazes me!

Just a couple of months ago, there was a new iPod nano that was released and I am excited to share it with you. The new nano is a great gift idea for anyone from a teenager, runner, mom that works out, on the go traveler – anyone!

If you are familiar with the iPod Nano, you may be asking ‘What’s new with this Nano?”

  • Built-in video camera
  • Larger 2.2-inch display with 240-by-376 resolution
  • New polished aluminum finish
  • Built-in mic and speaker
  • VoiceOver
  • FM radio with Live Pause and iTunes Tagging
  • Built-in Pedometer

This little bad boy also speaks 20 languages. Your music library has songs from all over the world—perhaps a love song from France, a bolero from Spain, or a pop tune from Japan. Luckily, VoiceOver speaks fluent song. iTunes automatically selects the language and best voice for your song titles and artist names. For example, iTunes recognizes the song “Ya Viene el Sol” by Ozomatli as a Spanish song, so your iPod nano will automatically speak that song title and artist in Spanish. If you’d prefer to hear that information spoken in another language, you can change the designated VoiceOver language for that song in iTunes.

Built-in FM Radio
The new built-in FM radio gives you yet another way to rock on iPod nano. For supported radio stations, it shows you the names of artists and songs and lets you enjoy your favorite radio shows on your commute or at the gym. Features like Live Pause and iTunes Tagging make listening to radio an entirely new experience.

I have to say that the built in pedometer is one of my favorite additions on the new iPod nano! I use this on a daily basis. I have a Pedometer, but I tend to not really ‘notice’ the steps I take when I have something fun with me, such as the iPod nano. It is always with me, so this is a perfect addition to the nano.

Fitness
With the new built-in Pedometer and Nike+ to help keep you motivated and track your fitness progress, iPod nano makes working out much less routine.

Pedometer
Since you take your iPod nano with your everywhere, why not use it to keep fit? Now that it doubles as a pedometer, there’s no reason not to. iPod nano uses the built-in accelerometer to keep track of your steps and calories burned and help you meet your fitness goals. Create a daily step goal, or set it to Always On so it counts all of the steps you take, all of the time. It may just be the most reliable exercise partner you ever have.

I recently started working out again and walking, despite our cold weather, so when I take along my iPod Nano, I can listen to the tunes that keep the beat in my step, as well as keep track of those steps I take.

Here is a brief overview to show you the new iPod Nano:

Mom’s Experience

  • Get the Flash Player to see this content.
  • We have a CD player in our cars, but also have an adapter hooked in to our car radio so we can play our iPod. The sound through the speakers is great; just as if I had headphones on.
  • I love that when you turn the iPod, the screen turns with you. This is so cool!
  • As I stated in the video, when I travel, I take the iPod nano with me. I like to have background noise when I sleep, so I downloaded some ‘white noise’ on this. I played a mix between music and white noise when I sleep while traveling and over the night, all that was used in battery power was one bar. I still had several hours left of play time. The battery power is amazing! It will last a good 24 hours when playing music. I tested this out for myself when traveling and I got at least 24 hours, if not more.
  • The thin body of the nano is perfect. I can keep it in my pocket, purse, diaperbag – you name it. At first, I wasn’t sure I would like how much taller it is compared to my older Nano, but I do believe I like this size even more!
  • Getting this nano set up with my computer was so easy! I thought I would have an issue with my computer already having my previous nano on there, but it wasn’t an issue at all. I was able to move my songs over from my computer library, buy tunes from the iTunes store and sync it with no problems at all.
  • The 8GB or 16GB storage ability blows me away! No other word to describe that. I have 761 songs currently on my iPod, 10.3GB free and so much room to add so many more pictures, videos and songs.
  • My only sadness with this iPod nano is that with my pink older style Nano, I was able to put on my radio docking station and listen to the music through my radio while at home and the older style nano would charge while playing, but with the new one; for some reason, it will not charge while playing. It will not charge at all. I am not sure why; I get a reading that tells me ‘Not able to charge on this device’. My guess is that my radio may not be compatible with the newer iPods. I am researching this and will get back to you all to let you know, since I am sure there are a lot of people out there that dock their iPods while at home.
  • Overall: I highly recommend the Apple iPod nano! Love it in every aspect possible from features, storage space, extras (such as the pedometer), the look and the price.

nano-redMom’s thoughts

  • How much is the iPod Nano? You can get the 8GB that holds 2,000 songs / 8 hours of video for $149.00, or the 16GB that holds 4,000 songs / 16 hours of video for $179.00
  • What do I think of the price of each? I think they are well worth the price. The storage and how much I use my iPod make it well worth it.
  • I love that Apple created the red iPod nano for a cause. Choose the (PRODUCT) RED Special Edition iPod nano and iTunes Gift Cards, and Apple gives a portion of the purchase price to the Global Fund to help eliminate AIDS in Africa. You make choices every day, from the clothes you wear to the music you play. Now making a choice means making a difference. With every iPod nano or iTunes Gift Card (PRODUCT) RED purchased, a part of the proceeds go directly to the Global Fund. Listening to music never felt so good.

Giving a gift? You can personalize the nano of your choice, at no additional cost to you!
