Purely Yours Ultra Double Electric Breast Pump *Giveaway*

21When my son was born, I was really excited to try nursing him. My entire pregnancy, I had told myself that I wasn’t going to even try. Well, the second I saw his face, I wanted to try. I also pumped when I could, to help with my milk supply, as well as to pump while I was at work. I breast fed him and pumped for 6 months. I really think that if I had a pump that worked better WITH me, I could have gone longer. With this said, I am really excited to show you a solution that can help you!

Ameda is best known for their hospital grade pumps, but the new Purely Yours Ultra™ Double Electric Breast Pump with CustomFit™ Flanges combines professional performance and hospital-proven technologies with mom-friendly features and a lightweight design to offer on-the-go mothers a comfortable, convenient and effective breast pumping experience. Ameda products have long been trusted by hospitals for their professional performance.

Pump Features:

  • Ameda Purely Yours Ultra has CustomControl™ dual adjustability with separate suction and speed dials that let moms choose from 32 different combinations to customize their pumping experience for the best results every time.
  • Ameda takes customization a step further with its CustomFit Flange System™. Moms need their breast pump flange to fit properly for greater comfort and better milk flow. Because flange fit can change with birth, breastfeeding and pumping, Ameda has included its three most popular flange sizes (25.0 mm, 28.5 mm and 30.5 mm) in the Purely Yours Ultra – so mom can ensure a good flange fit as long as she continues to pump.
  • The Purely Yours Ultra includes the easy-clean HygieniKit® Milk Collection System. Designed to work with all Ameda electric breast pumps, the HygieniKit’s patented barrier prevents milk from entering hard-to-clean tubing and virtually eliminates all tubing care, saving moms the time and effort of cleaning, or worse yet, replacing dirty tubing.
  • For easy transport, the Purely Yours Ultra features a contemporary ultra-suede and faux-leather Ultra Tote, perfect for discreetly storing pumping essentials. The easy-clean interior features pockets and dividers to keep mom organized, while an insulated, removable Cool ‘N Carry™ Milk Tote holds up to six bottles and includes cooler packs to keep milk cool for up to ten hours. A car adapter is included for on-the-go pumping.
  • The Purely Yours Ultra Double Electric Breast Pump can operate with 6 AA batteries and has a suggested retail price of $299. It is available at online retailers including AmedaBaby.com, BreastPumpsDirect.com and HealthCheckSystems.com.

The dual pump would really shave off time in my pumping schedule. My twins were born premature and I’ve been exclusively pumping to feed them. It just takes so much time! Thank you for the giveaway!

i really love that it has “3 sizes for a great fit even as your body changes” because oh my, I need that! Our baby boy is due in August and my tips from before are-keep pumping and don’t let up or you will lose your milk supply. I got mastitis so I know to nurse or pump. This pump would sure help as I have a really cheap manual one and I am worried about mastitus again-I got pretty sick two times because my baby was in the hospital twice and it was hard to pump with the machine I had and I couldn’t be with her all the time as I was not well, either.

I would love to win this for my friend. She is pumping for her son who was born at 27 weeks and is still in the hospital. She and her husband are staying at a Ronald McDonald House next to the hospital where he is in NICU. It takes her forever to pump with a single pump. THis would help her out a lot as she pumps as often as she can so she can keep a storage for the baby since he can’t nurse on his own.

28 Kate July 1, 2009 at 10:47 am

I haven’t been a mother myself but I have a friend who could really use this. I like that it has that dual electric feature and that it has custom fit flanges! Thanks!!

29 Stephanie July 1, 2009 at 10:03 am

I like that it is easily portable. Nothing worse than having to lug around a huge pump along with the diaper bag. This looks great!

This would be great so that I can pump and hubby can deal with some of the feeding and give my boobs a break!

Nursing tips – Relax and take your time! Stressing over feedings won’t help either you or baby any, and sometimes baby just doesn’t want to latch on. Give her a few minutes and try again, but remember she’s not always going to be hungry when she cries

38 Amanda Malta June 30, 2009 at 7:03 pm

I love that it is dishwasher safe! I also love that it is portable!

I do not have any tips, as I am only expecting my first and I have never done this before, but I cannot wait!!!

39 Beth June 30, 2009 at 6:11 pm

The battery powered option would be nice!

40 Alison B June 30, 2009 at 4:28 pm

I wouldl ove to try this breast pump. I pump everyday at work, I hate it but it is worth the scarafice for me because I know it is what is best for my daughter. I like how lightweight and easy to use this pump looks.
My tip is to be calm and not stress about how much is going in to the bottles. I find when I am not concentrating on the amount I am pumping the better I do. And in the beginning Pump Pump Pump to get your supply in, it really does help.

The Ameda Purely Yours would help me out in many ways. I am currently 8 months pregnant and getting ready to welcome my first daughter. I am looking forward to breast feeding her with the intention to provide her with the best nutrition available for her in the first year of her life. However I will not be able to stay home full time and will have to go back o work after four months and need a pump to help me continue to provide my daughter with breast milk. The Purely Yours seems to be the way I can balance returning to work and giving her the best nutrition available. Thanks, Erin

I guess a tip I would offer for breastfeeding is to stay very hydrated and make sure to eat regularly so you can produce enough milk for the baby.

54 Jennifer G. June 27, 2009 at 11:34 am

This Purely Yours Ultra breastpump would be beneficial because I can pump on maternity leave and store my breast milk for future use. Also, I like that it is portable and I can pump at work during my break as well.

55 Nancye Davis June 25, 2009 at 9:24 pm

The custom fit flanges would be a great help because I had to change pumps with my first baby due to my nipple size. I no longer have the pump I borrowed and would love to try this one. Thanks soo much for the give away. I also love the fact that it is so light. The Lactina that I borrowed was much heavier.

60 Beverly June 23, 2009 at 2:24 am

Ameda’s Purely Yours Ultra would really help me keep my family financially “afloat” during these tough times by allowing me to return to work, while helping me to feel less guilty because I am still able to provide the most nutritious meal for my baby, with the added benefit of keeping my husband and other family members involved in feeding. The updates to this product make it lighter and easier to clean. I love that it is BPA free. As first time parents-to-be, my husband and I are freaking out about a lot of things, but I am so glad that there is such a product that will allow me to give my baby the best and most cost-effective meal possible for a lot longer. This will help me stick to my 1 year of breastfeeding goal!

I learned that they have up to 7 different size flanges available, so they are probably going to fit every woman. I don’t have any tips on nursing or pumping because we’re expecting our first; it’s been helpful to read other womens tips though!

69 Kathryn June 20, 2009 at 9:55 am

This will sure help out so I can pump wherever we are instead of letting my breasts become engorged. Has happenned to me over and over and I have ended up with a wet shirt!! So embarrassing.

My tip – let your breasts fill up before pumping. I have pumped and barely gotten anything wasting so much time – only to have to repeat when I am too full.

Blessings!!! And keep on nursing!!

75 karina June 19, 2009 at 1:36 am

The adjustable pumping settings seem to be a great idea that would help me pump as my baby’s needs change as he grows!

I’m a first time expectant mother, but the best advice I’ve heard is to Relax about your ability to produce what your baby needs — your body was designed for this!

76 Emily R. June 18, 2009 at 9:21 pm

If I won this pump, I would give it to a friend who recently had a baby & must go back to work soon.

77 Britani June 18, 2009 at 4:01 pm

I bought a manual breast pump with my first child, and it didn’t work as well as I would’ve liked. I had to stop breastfeeding before I wanted to because my milk supply went away. With a product like this, I would be able to breastfeed as long as I want because it would keep my milk supply up.

78 Lareina June 18, 2009 at 1:12 pm

The Ameda pump is the only pump that you can safely resell after you’ve used it and is approved for use by multiple people. That makes me feel better because I know there is no way there will be bacteria building up anywhere that it can affect my baby.

I’m hoping that with this baby (my 2nd) my husband will have the opportunity to feed him since with my daughter, there was no way the pump I had (a manual one) could get enough even for one feeding. He was very disappointed not to have that bonding time with her and mommy could’ve used a break once in awhile, too!

79 Nadine June 18, 2009 at 1:41 am

The fact that it’s a double electrical would really save me time as I am expecting twins. Time is valuable as all new moms know, but to have to juggle breast feeding 2 babies….time and organization is of the essence.

80 Lindsey Dann June 17, 2009 at 9:20 pm

Wow what a great product by the sounds of it. I was unable to breast feed because of latching issues even with a nipple shield it still didnt work. I really wanted my baby to have breast milk so I pumped and bottle fed for awhile. I was using a manual pump and that was hard on the hand therefore my milk supply dwinddled :( with our next baby this would help so much!

87 jamie June 16, 2009 at 1:47 am

this is my second child 18 days old nevaeh i have a single manual pump really hard to pump when im feeding her it would make my life defently easier because when shes sleeping im leaking and by the time i get to my stupid pump its pretty well to late and im not even kidding , would be very handy i heard they work very well and maybe i wouldint have to spend hours pumping and more time with my other daughter !!

I need to build up a stash of breastmilk so that I can start going to the gym. It sounds a bit selfish, but being in shape is a requirement for my job. In terms of nursing tips, my best advice is to learn how to nurse in the side-lying position. It really saved my back. :)

90 Julie Fitzgerald June 14, 2009 at 9:25 am

I had such a difficult time breast feeding the first time around and would love this product for my second baby who’s due July 1st! My first time breast feeding my daughter I found myself completely engorged after about the 3rd day after giving birth. The only way to help being engorged is to feed your baby or pump!

91 Mommy Daisy June 14, 2009 at 7:10 am

This could definitely help me with our next baby. With the first I had milk supply issues that forced me to stop nursing too early for my liking. But I know that a nice pump like this could be so helpful in helping to build up a good supply early on and help continued nursing.

92 Mary Casper June 13, 2009 at 4:06 pm

93 Jillian V June 13, 2009 at 3:35 pm

This would really help me out in a few ways. I already have a one year old, and I attempted to breastfeed him but he wouldnt latch on and my pump was horrable but expensive! Now i am pregnant due in January and I really want to breastfeed this child. Not only is the formula expensive and a hassle but breastfeeding is healthier for my baby.

I love that it is portable and convenient, perfect for those who have to go back to work maybe sooner than they’d like but still want to provide breastmilk to their child. I am pregnant with my first so I don’t have any personal tips for nursing/pumping, but having witnessed two girlfriends going through it all now, I would say that patience is the key – there may be a lot of struggles along the way but they’re all worth it.

This would help me out because I had to borrow a friends and I would love to have a pump of my own. My only tip is to not give up too soon in the beginning. It takes some women a little longer to get the hang of it and not to pressure yourself to be perfect. Thanks for the chance!

114 Jen Easton June 11, 2009 at 2:04 pm

I have 7 week old twins and want to be able to give them mother’s milk. I have not had success with getting them to nurse and so I have been EXCLUSIVELY PUMPING and formula feeding. This pump would allow me to continue to give them as much of the good stuff as I can. The battery option would be awesome for when I’m daytripping.

My Tip- Any Breast milk is better than no breast milk. Although I cannot exclusively breastfeed I’m committed to giving them as much as I can for as long as I can. GOOD LUCk to all you moms!

115 Dev June 11, 2009 at 1:09 pm

116 Courtney Fairbrother June 11, 2009 at 12:23 pm

BPA free!!! I love that. Tips? This will be my first time so I’m just reading all the tips I can!

117 shanine June 11, 2009 at 12:09 pm

Just the fact thats its electric will help me alot. My son has now started to sleep through the night so when i get up I am uncomfortable and have to pump both breasts with a manual pump. (it take a while) I am also going back to work in Septemeber so it would help me then as well.

Tip for the mom who just started to nurse: make sure that your babys nose is lined up with your nipple, that way your child has to open wide to reach your nipple and get a good latch. Also for pumping Gerber nipple cream works amazing. After you pump your nipple can feel dry, and the gerber nipple cream is like a big lip chap, no need to put on your fingers to apply just twist and apply!!! Good luck all!!!

I love that it is Convenient
- Lightweight and portable, can operate on 6 AA batteries. so i can take it on the go with me.

I went back to work and have been renting a pump. I could use this to take to work and not have to tote around a large pump. I also like the custom fit flange. I have had to try 3 different sizes of breast shields to get a good fit.

A tip is to manually express, massage the breast before pumping to maximize milk production.

I would love to win this for my best friend who is pregnant. It would help me with a baby shower gift! My best advice from my nursing experience is to NOT GIVE UP! When I started, it hurt really bad and I felt like giving up a bunch of times, but I toughed it out and within a couple of weeks it was smooth sailing from there! It was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had with my baby! (I have 4 kids, but I only breastfed one, wish I could’ve with all of them)

This would help me out because I’m having my first baby in December and I plan to breastfeed but I will have to return to work! I need a breast pump for sure!

129 Monica Waugh June 10, 2009 at 7:57 pm

It can help me out because I can pump double while working…more efficient!

130 Sharon June 10, 2009 at 7:31 pm

I like the three different sizes. My tip would be to pump in the morning because it’s when you’re fullest.

It would not help me but it would help a really good friend out. She is due to have twins in two months and wants to breast feed them more than anything. I think that something this handy would help her get a bit more sleep at night

134 Kate June 10, 2009 at 2:37 pm

I think the 3 sizes for a great fit even as your body changes is so wonderful because your breasts do change in shape and density through the breast feeding experience. My tip is to label the milk immediately with the date and if you store it in the freezer always put the newest in the back because you always grab from the front by instinct.

135 Tarah June 10, 2009 at 1:22 pm

This would be wonderful – I love that it’s dishwasher safe as well. And small – I will have to take mine to work. I’m not breastfeeding yet but I hear that if they keep falling asleep on you, you should try to feed them without clothes on so they aren’t so warm and cozy.

The adjustable pumping settings seem to be a great idea that would help me pump as my baby’s needs change as he grows!

I’m a first time expectant mother, but the best advice I’ve heard is to Relax about your ability to produce what your baby needs — your body was designed for this!

My tip for nursing is basically not to stress over it because the baby will pick up your stress and then baby stresses out; just relax and remember to feed from both sides or you will be severely lopsided!! :-)

Thanks

One of my daughters is a nursing mom and she could surely use this to pump as she is having to go back to work soon! This would enable her to pump milk for the day with such ease!!

Nursing tip: if you find that you get sore, unfortunately the best thing to do is to continue to nurse through the pain. The natural inclination is to avoid feeding on the sore side, but that only brings about engorgement. Just tough it out, nursing is the best and it will get better.

This would be great because I have three other children besides the upcoming newborn and I run a home daycare as well as homeschooling. Anything that would allow me to express milk quickly so that my husband or teenager could help out with giving a bottle occasionally would be a huge help!!!

This is a great giveaway , Iwould win this for my sister who is due soon. This would have been great for my 4 kids , i used the old manual one and it took forever lol. lil_lolas@hotmail.com

The Purely Yours Ultra™ Double Electric Breast Pump would help me pump much more quickly. It would also help by eliminating the pain I get in my hand and wrist when pumping manually. With an electric breast pump, I would be able to pump more milk and hopefully stop supplementing with formula in the evening.

Tips: I don’t know what to say that isn’t pretty much common knowledge. Make sure you feed on both sides equally instead of favoring one side or you will end up lopsided.

this would help me out because i am having my 4th baby in 3.5 weeks. i have a 6th grader and a preschooler that i homeschool and a toddler. i need a quick way to express milk in a pinch when i can’t sit and nurse. i don’t have any tips since i haven’t been successful in nursing any of my kids. maybe a good pump can change that.

165 Laura June 10, 2009 at 7:28 am

I plan to nurse and pump, but no tips as baby isn’t here yet. I do love that the HygieniKit is dishwasher safe, as life is about to get really crazy and I have a feeling handwashed items are going to be ignored for a bit!

166 Tracy June 10, 2009 at 7:03 am

I think the three sizes of flanges is a great idea. When I pumped for my daughter (exclusively for 9 months!), I always had a hard time figuring out what the best size for me was. Invariably, I would buy a new set to find out I liked the previous size better, only to come back to the new set a few months later!

I love the fact that it’s a dual electric!! I pump for donation (while nursing 2 kids) but I only have a single manual pump, and it takes work!!! I’d love to have this one!

As for tips, pumping in the morning has always given me MUCH better results than in the evening.
