Put the toilet seat DOWN!

Yes. I admit it. I am very annoyed when the toilet seat is left up. Not because I can fall in and drown, but it just annoys me. I don’t like walking in to a bathroom and seeing the toilet open. It’s like an open invitation for germs, but also, to me – the toilet just screams ‘fall in me’. Tucker is potty trained and is great at peeing when he needs to, but good grief, he never puts the seat down. This is an open invitation for Kambry to go fishing or for the cat to drown.

What did I do?

I put this sign inside the lid of my toilet.

toiletseatdown

Think the boys in the house will get the hint?

That is really cute! I love the idea… even if they don’t get the hint, any of your visitors will know that at least you are trying, and that THEY are inconsiderate neanderthals. :-)

It absolutely drives me CRAZY when we stay with family over Christmas, I share a bathroom with my twin brothers and my better half and they seem to think because I am outnumbered that I should put the seat down ECHH. I already fell in once and I still shudder thinking about it, I think I peeled fifty layers of skin off with a burning hot shower after that incident lol.

At least you gave them a visual, LOL! Maybe start giving Tucker a small prize, like as skittle every time he puts the toilet seat down? Then after a few weeks, have it every other time. Then eventually he’ll just do it on his own and be happy with positive verbal praise.

As for the hubby – by then, maybe no hope? :-/

They love their kitty, so maybe stress the fact that Milano could easily drown. I hear of numerous kitties that have been indulging their feline curiosities, and have fallen head first into the toilet. The slick porcelain sides of the bowl make it extremely difficult, if not impossible, for them to get enough traction to back up and out…
