When I was out looking for a car seat for tucker, after he was born in 2005, I was looking for ‘something cute’. To be honest, I didn’t really think too much about safety because I thought they were all safe, or supposed to be anyway. I had NO knowledge of safety when it came to infants in their car seats. Boy was I wrong. Very wrong! Why have something that matches all your baby’s clothing for a whole 3 months, (which is oh, so cute) when you can have the long term security (and style) knowing that your baby is safe in their car seat for longer than just 20 pounds? OK so some infant car seats ‘state that they last more than that’, but with both of my kids, they were out of an infant car seat at 6 months. I don’t know about you, but with our income, and today’s economy, I am not too keen on the fact that I would have to buy an infant car seat, then another car seat for my growing child around an estimated 6-12 months of age, like I did with both Tucker and Kambry. This just is not cost justifiable in our home. If I had known about Recaro, we would have started out, and ended up today, with this same car seat. It is very sturdy, very well made and is built to last a long time!
I am more than impressed that Kambry, who is currently 16 months of age and around 26 pounds, fits very nice in the Recaro Como. I LOVE that this car seat comes ready for a 5 pound baby, but is fully equipped to handle an active 70 pound child! When the Recaro Como arrived to our home, Kambry saw it and was ready to go ‘bye-bye’, yet her brother thought other thoughts.

When I put Kambry in the Recaro Como in our dining room (to test it out with her size and get her fitted for it), she was really happy in it and the customization for it to her size was so easy! Once I got the straps where it fit her perfectly, I installed it.
The car seat that Kambry was in, was passed on from Tucker to her. Well, after the whole ‘child car seat safety‘ that I have been reading, I thought that I would take it upon myself to research car seats and travel safety. I am scared, yet amazed at all the information that I read. The installation of the Como Recaro Car seat was very easy and I feel very secure having Recaro to help protect and keep her comfortable while on the road.
What I LOVE about Recaro, is that they specialize in SAFETY, while most companies just focus on sales and products. With as much as we travel, safety, car seats and comfort is a MUST for us. I can tell you that I have not ever been able to recommend a car seat that I truly believe in…. Until NOW. Recaro has beyond impressed me and I will be sending my recommendations on to fellow mommies, friends and family!

I’d say I like the fact that they have comfortable padding. I’m amazed when I’ve felt other carseats at stores at how hard and stiff these carseats are. Do they really think that babies and toddlers don’t like to be comfortable? I’m so glad to see that some companies actually keep this in mind when making a car seat!

SIP that very important feature that a lot of carseats don’t have… Side Impact Protection through out the whole seat as head wings, mid section and hip thigh protection. I mean if they have a carseat that is half of the seats they make for the Racing Drivers I think it already is safer than most.
Recaro has a larger base demension than its competitor and provides more side impact protection. Before I even went to the Recaro site, I was thinking this seat reminded me of a race car. I love the cool look of this seat-so will my son, who thinks booster seats are for babies!

An ICU nurse was recently telling my hubby and I how important side impact protection is! He said they see more people (all ages) in the ICU from side impact car accidents than anything else, and it’s because people are not properly protected for side impact accidents!

Recaro seats have the best side impact protection that I have seen! They’re the safest seats. Very cool that this brand is used for race car drivers!
One of my favorite things about Recaro seats, whether it’s their carseats or sports car bucket seats, is the side head and neck protection they provide. It also doesn’t hurt that the seats look awesome and fit you like a glove. Extra large side wings for side impact collision protection.
I have two children ready for booster seats and it would be nice to find something safe and comfortable enough for multi-day trips.
What a great car seat – looks very safe. I like the structural support for hip and thigh along with all the great features.
I love Recardo seats I have them in My VW I also like the structural support for hips and thighs
The feature I like the best is all the side impact safety elements like the supports and energy absorbing head and midsection. I don’t have any side impact safety features on my car so I like this about the seat.

The car seats have adjustable headrests. They need to make these car seats for adults too as the headrests a in cars only fit people who are over 6 feet tall.

The side impact protection really catches my eye! This would be wonderfully safe for my little girl.
The energy absorbing head wings on each side of the seat are a welcome feature. How many of us can count the number of times one of our own has bumped his or her head on the car seat side…or the stroller, for that matter. I love this feature, and think it was really good planning on the part of the manufacturer.

I have a friend whose family member was seriously hurt in a side-impact crash. When I read that the Recaro has extra protection in side-impact crashes, I feel much better about their product. So many safety seats are designed to protect in head-on collisions, but aren’t tested as scrupulously as this Recaro seat.
And heck. It’s great-looking, too.
