I love movies! Who doesn’t? I cannot tell you how much we spend on renting DVD’s and what a hassle it is to get everyone dressed, loaded in the van and to the movie store. It would be great if I could rent a movie online, but watch it on my TV. Wait! There IS a way this can happen. I didn’t believe it at first, until our Roku arrived. Roku is a new, fun and affordable way for you and your family to stay entertained without breaking the bank. Is the current state of the economy forcing you to curtail those movie night outings? Do you need a way to keep the kids occupied while enjoying some “you time”? How about a quiet and inexpensive night in? We have movie and game night every week, so you can only imagine how costly this can get. Looking back at our bank statement, I see movie rentals quite often, so as of now, this is gone, thanks to Roku and NetFlix.

With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, then following Easter (tons of Family Get togethers), Mother’s Day, Father’s Day (Shall I go on?) and budgets minimal this year, many do not have the funds for their usual getaway. Instead, why not stay at home this winter and give your loved one the gift of instant, entertainment for a one-time purchase of $99.
Roku, a leading innovator in digital media technology, is providing families with a fun and affordable alternative to home entertainment. Roku has teamed up with Netflix to offer customers the ability to instantly watch more than 12,000 movies and TV episodes, including new releases and hundreds of options in HD, streamed directly to your TV. The best part, if you are like most Netflix customers and on a Netflix Unlimited plan (any plan that costs $8.99 a month or more); there are no limits to how much you can watch instantly.
The Roku Player is surprisingly easy to use and simple to integrate into any home entertainment system. All it takes is connecting the player to any TV and to the Internet. For homes with wireless Internet connectivity, the player is Wi-Fi enabled and offers the ultimate in placement flexibility. With the player’s accompanying remote control, members can browse and make selections right on the TV screen and also have the option to pause, rewind or play anytime just like a DVD.
I wanted to show you how EASY the Roku was for me to install. It took just a few minutes to get the Roku hooked up to my television, and a few more minutes getting my NetFlix account started online. Once it was created, I logged on to NetFlix.com, added movies to my que, then I picked up the remote to Roku, navigated through the menu and there were my movies in que. Tucker was very excited to be able to watch Scooby Doo and Caillou instantly! Check out the picture to the right so you can see how small the Roku is on our entertainment stand.
I installed Roku today, set up my NetFlix account today and we have already watched 2 movies instantly. I am VERY impressed and very excited about this product! If there was ever a gift to get someone… it is the Roku!
