Stair safety with Safety 1st Baby Gates *Review*

logo_engDo you have kids, or even pets to where you are always on the lookout for that perfect baby gate? I can tell you that I have been searching just about everywhere and have bought a few baby gates, but have not been happy with any of them. To be honest, I thought all baby gates ‘were the same’. Boy, was I ever wrong?

We live in a 1900 home and we have stairs that go up and stairs that go down. Not to mention that we have a pantry that used to be a porch on our old home that we have to have protected away from the kids as well. (This has medication that is high on a shelf and .. well.. food that we don’t want the kids to be able to go in and get food at any time.) I had a very much appreciated opportunity to check out two fabulous baby gates from Safety 1st.

The first one that I have fallen head over heels for is “The Perfect Fit Baby Gate”. When they say perfect fit – they mean perfect fit! I tried the Perfect Fit Baby Gate on our stairs that lead upstairs, and at first I didn’t think it would work (hence why I said this in my video below), but after adjusting and not using the spacer, we decided to put it at the bottom of the stairs, instead of where I videoed.

The Perfect Fit Baby Gate

The innovative design of the Perfect Fit Gate ensures a secure fit in most entryways. A unique auto-fit extension on one end of the gate allows it to conform to irregular entryways and baseboards. For easy operation, the gate also features a complete-control top handle that lets you lock, release, and adjust as needed.

  • Adjusts to fit base moldings and uneven entryways
  • Top handle locks, releases, and adjusts
  • Color indicator shows when gate is locked
  • Pressure or hardware mounted
  • Smooth panels are climb-proof and easy to clean

Ignore our non-white doorways and horrific wallpaper in the hallway. I am in the process of painting.

Do I like the Perfect Fit Baby Gate? YES! I wish I had this gate from day one that we moved in to this house. I will be buying another one for the top of the stairs, to prevent the kids from waking up at night and falling down the stairs.

This gate was SO easy to install! It comes with a strip of paper that has all your measurements right on it, so you don’t have to get out the tape measure and wish that it will add up.

The next baby gate that we had a chance to check out is a brand new one;  Nature Next Bamboo Baby Gate.

The Safety 1st® Nature Next™ Bamboo Gate is an eco-conscious way to restrict access between rooms. Made from durable bamboo, a renewable resource, the gate also features 100% recycled plastic panels. The gate can be used in doorways and openings anywhere from 28 to 42 inches wide where it provides a barrier that is 24 inches tall. Pressure mounting ensures that this gate is easy to install, and also allows you to easily move it between rooms.

  • Durable bamboo frame
  • 100% recycled panels
  • Extends 28″-42″
  • 24″ tall
  • Pressure mounted

I never was a fan of a pressure mounted, or as I consider them a ‘manual baby gate’, until now. When we received this one, I really liked it! The Nature Next Bamboo Baby Gate is very nicely made and is nice to look at! You are probably wondering where we put this gate. Our house isn’t a gated community. We use this gate when we are on the deck, to prevent the kids from falling down the steps to the yard. We also use this upstairs in the hallway when the kids are napping or down for the night. I love this gate because it is very light weight, it is very sturdy and it is very easy to tote around the house where we should need it.
