ScoopFree Self Cleaning Litter Box

Poop. Yup. I said it. Poop. ultra

I have desired to have a cat, but the thought of a litter box just did not appeal to hubby. “Ew… gross! You want our kids around that?” Well. My thought was … “Uh. The kids won’t be bathing in cat poo.” Duh. Well, as a girly girl, the thought of scooping poop just doesn’t appeal to my list of tending to the kids, laundry, cooking and .. well, you get the idea. I had a great opportunity to try out the ever so fabulous ScoopFree Litter Box for Milano. Love it! Love it! When it first arrived, my thought was “This seems a bit big”, but once I put it together and got it upstairs, I saw how it worked. It really doesn’t take up any more space than a regular litter box that you would purchase for your kitty.

What is ScoopFree, you ask?

ScoopFree® is the self-cleaning litter box you can leave alone for weeks at a time. It is the only self-cleaning litter box that uses disposable litter trays to provide hands-off convenience and unbeatable odor control. You don’t have to see, touch, or smell messy waste. Simply replace the disposable tray every few weeks, and the litter box is just like new.

 scoopfree

Here is Milano’s first reaction to the ScoopFree Litter Box. She wasn’t so sure about it at first. I sat in the corner of the bathroom giggling the whole time she was exploring it!

You may be wondering “How much is the ScoopFree Litter Box to maintain?” You can purchase 3 months of the refills for $49.95. Recommended litter tray replacements: At least once every 20-30 days for one cat, every 10-15 days for 2 cats, every 7-10 days for 3 cats. At first, I thought this seemed a bit high, BUT here are some calculations for you. I would replace Milano’s litter weekly to avoid odor.

(These prices are estimated on a bi-weekly basis)

  • Kitty Litter: $10.00
  • Sifting Litter Bags: $4.00
  • Monthly: $28.00
  • Quarterly: $84.00

With the ScoopFree, you get a nice savings. Quarterly, ScoopFree is $49.95 for 3 refills and while you would normally pay around $84.00 for regular kitty litter, bags, plus you will need a scooper and with Scoop Free, no need to scoop!

    Hi I noticed you reviewed this product over a year ago. Are you still happily using the scoopfree litter box? We just got our 1st cat and I am interested in this product. I wanted to get a honest mommy opinion concerning the use and price. Thanks

    @Sherri, Hi Sherri
    I have to say that I still LOVE this product! We can extend the use of each litter cartridge by scooping out the poop when the box gets full (where it is scooped in to). Ours lasts over 30 days each. LOVE it, after a year. The refills have budgeted out to being cheaper than buying litter, bags, etc. in the local store.

    Oh, I have wanted one of these forever. I hate scooping from the kitty litter! And I hate the odor if I don’t do it every day! I’ll have to take a look at this and think about the cost. Thanks.
