I am trying to eat out less and make more (cheaply made) meals at home. I have found that I spend a TON of money on going out to eat – it’s so needless! Plus, I am trying to save money for a house so this will help with that.
I’ve cut back on computer time, doing it only when the older kids are in school and my little one is napping. It’s a very healthy cut back, and the rewards are noticeable.
im trying to spend more time at home w/ the kids and less time in the office stressing. The work will be here tomorrow but the days with the kids watching them/playing with them will be one day less before they are grown ups!
I plan on giving alot of used clothing and items I don’t use anymore to goodwill. I also plan on using tote bags opposed to plastic bags at the grocery store.
This month I will exercise more!

We have started to clean out closets. What doesn’t fit is being donated to a local shelter. All rooms, toys, basement, and garage are being cleaned out and donated or taken to the dump. We are tired of the clutter. Less clutter = a happier home.

The change I will be making is converting to greener cleaning products. My husband is old school and doesn’t think that natural products like vinegar can clean as well as bleach or other harsher chemicals. But having two babies in the house makes me very aware that we need to make this change.

I’ve recently started walking and doing pushups again – I need to try to stay healthy during this flu season!
As a graduate student I find myself buried in piles of books and papers all too often. My spice cabinet is also a mess, it takes me forever to find what I’m looking for. I really hope and need to find a better way of organizing all my clutter – looking forward to checking out the scott’s website.

This is definately a decluttering month for me. Luckily I am fairly organized except for my bedroom closet that has been stacked with mountains of clothes and of various sizes since I have fluctuated in weight in the past few years. One night I was watching a tv show called Hoarders and it horrified me at the thought of ever getting that out of control so at 10 at night I went and got bags and forced myself to put in the bags any clothes I haven’t worn in the past 6 months to go to Goodwill. I actually worked through the night and now my closet is all nice and tidy. Also, by tackling that huge problem it helped me to start tackling other areas that need to be straightened out. I made a list and now each week I am able to check something else off that I have accomplished. It’s a good feeling. The list helps staying on track too.
I will volunteer at the library.
I’m going to start an exercise plan, I just got a recumbent bike!

I endeavor to spend more time with my kids AND my parents this month. It’s tough because I’ve been trying to work as much overtime as I can to get that little bit extra holiday cash.
I will spend more time volunteering at the nursing home near my house.
I am decluttering, starting with the kids stuff. We are going through all the toys and clothes and donating everything they have outgrown and/or no longer play with
Combining trips to save time and gas.
I’m going to make a serious attempt to organize the paper clutter in the house.
I am organizing my office so that I can find my work! Now, there are folders that keep my important papers separated from the miscellaneous papers. My basement is also an important project that will be completed soon. Since moving here a few years ago, I dumped everything in the basement because there was no organization for this kind of stuff. My handyman has built shelving for my organization project and so far I’ve separated my Halloween collectibles from my other seasonal items. The area already looks much nicer!

I am donating a lot more and shopping the Salvation Army thrift store because it goes to a good cause.
My husband and I are doing several things. We are decluttering the house and are giving the things we no longer want or need to charity. Healthwise, you go for a walk each day early before our day gets started and I have found some wonderful recipes using chicken breasts and ground chicken (which we grind outself using only well trimmed chicken breasts)We have reuseable bags and mostly are remembering to take them when we shop. We recycle plastic, aluminum and paper. WE have changed light bulbs for more energy efficient ones. I believe each little step helps and one thing seems to lead to another.

One thing that we are trying out this month is the “20 minute Pick up Party”. We set the microwave timer each night and spend 20 minutes picking up the house. By taking the time to organize and clean out a closet, I found space for some things I really needed to keep out of sight on the floor and used shoe boxes stacked in the upper shelf on one side for more item storage. I also washed winter scarves so they will be fresh. Now I know what’s there and where. Now I need to keep on going doing the same in other areas.

Because we on a tight budget, we’re going to think twice before making any purchases. Even our kids are learning to live on a budget.

Twice a year, we do a purge of our home — clothing, appliances, toys, etc. As a family, we clean up the items and drop them at either a local women’s resource center or at a shelter for women & children. And during the fall “purge” we ask our kids to make a box of gently used toys. We all know that they get more than they need at the holidays, and this way our kids have to “pay it forward.” So they choose a boxful of toys to give up — but they know they are going to good use and that they are making room for a new wave of playthings. (We also support several causes that allow us to purchase new items for families in need, but I think it’s important that they learn that “more does not = better.”)
It is getting to cold to be active outside so I am getting a gym membership

I’m going to spend less time fighting with my teenager. We have already started talking about what causes us the most angst. She had some valid points and well, when I was listening to myself one day…I was horrified. Who WAS that banshee? LMBO And she admitted that she didn’t like how she acted. This should save us valuable time and energy. I’m not saying it will be easy or that we won’t still have our moments but it will be better. One thing that is already working is laughter…..sometimes we just stop and look at each other and start cracking up.
We are remodleing our 80 year old farmhouse and find like others that we have much we can share. I am donating clothes, household items and seasonal decorations to the Appalachian Helping Hands clothes closet to help the needy! Thanks! senekers@comcast.net
