Soup ‘Diet’ Body Detox Recipe

Just after Kambry was born, I had a friend that told me about this soup diet where she had lost quite a bit of weight, so I had to try it. I am very picky when it comes to fruits & vegetables, so I decided to try this, but give it my own twist. To my surprise, it worked just as good as the original recipe that I was given. See, I have a texture issue; meaning I don’t like the texture of things like lettuce, tomatoes, onions, bananas, so I steer clear away from these things. I take daily vitamins that include these nutrients.

Here is the original recipe of this soup diet, along with my edits in bold red to show you what I changed to reflect my own changes.

Soup Diet

  • 1-2 cans of stewed tomatoes
  • 3 bunches green onions
  • 1 bunch celery
  • 2 green peppers

I substituted a large bottle of V8 {Low Sodium – green lid} for the tomatoes, onions, celery and peppers.

  • 2 lbs carrots (I used baby carrots)
  • 2 cans green beans (do not drain)
  • 1 large can of beef/chicken broth (no fat) I have tried large box of Swanson’s, and this time, I am trying Emeril’s
  • 1 package of Lipton chicken noodle soup mix (needs to have the diced chicken in the mix)

Cover w/ water & boil fast for 10 min. reduce to simmer & continue to cook until veggies are tender. Chop it all up and put into a large pot! Boil and then simmer till your carrots are soft. I boiled mine at first, then simmered for about an hour, let it cool and put in to containers for each day so all I had to do was reach in the fridge, push away the cookie dough and get a bowl of soup and heat up. OR you can put in the Crock-Pot and let it cook on low all night.

Eat soup anytime. Eat as much as you want whenever you want. this soup will not add any calories. The more you eat, the more you’ll lose!

DRINKS: unsweetened juices, tea (also herbal), coffee, cranberry juice, skim milk and WATER, WATER, WATER!
Unsweetened juice = Gatorade.

  • DAY 1: Any fruit (except bananas). Cantaloupes & watermelon are lower in calories than most other fruits. Eat only soup & fruit today.
  • DAY 2: All veggies. eat until you’re stuffed w/ fresh, raw, cooked or canned veggies. Try to eat leafy green veggies and stay away from dry beans, peas or corn. Eat veggies & soup. At dinnertime reward yourself W/ a big baked potato and butter. NO fruits.
  • DAY 3: Eat all the soup, fruit & veggies you want. Don’t have a baked potato. If you’ve eaten as above and not cheated, you should find that you’ve lost 5-7 pounds!
  • DAY 4: Bananas & skim milk. Eat @ least 3 bananas & drink as much milk as you can today, along w/ the soup. Bananas are high in calories & carbs, as is the milk, but on this particular day, your body will need the potassium & carbs. Protein & calcium tend to lessen the craving for sweets. If you don’t like bananas, I would eat the soup 3 times that day, and take a supplement vitamin with potassium that day ~~ and still drink your skim milk.
  • Day 5: Beef & tomatoes, you may have 10-20 ounces of beef and a can of tomatoes or as many as 6 tomatoes on this day. Eat the soup at least once today. Grill or BBQ yours and add Mrs Dash for extra flavor.
  • Day 6: Beef & veggies. Eat to your heart’s content of the beef and veggies today. You can have 2-3 steaks if you like & green leafy veggies, but no baked potato. Be sure to have the soup at least once.
  • Day 7: Steamed brown rice, unsweetened fruit juice and veggies. Again, be sure to stuff yourself and eat the soup. You can add cooked veggies to your rice if you wish. Any brown rice is fine! You can use the bag rice that you just pop in the microwave.

***By the end of the 7th day, if you’ve not cheated on this diet, you should have lost anywhere from 10-17 POUNDS. If you have lost more than 17 lbs, stay off the diet for 2 days before resuming the diet again.YOU CAN SUBSTITUTE BROILED, BOILED OR BAKED CHICKEN INSTEAD OF THE BEEF, BUT ABSOLUTELY NO SKIN ON THE CHICKEN AND ONLY ON ONE OF THE BEEF DAYS.

I choose to simmer my soup all night in the Crock-Pot so that it is fresh and ready to start the next morning.

Soup Diet Recipe

My first time that I did this soup diet, I lost 17 pounds. I did this same diet a few months later and lost 10 pounds. I am about to do this diet again, and my goal is 5. If I lose more, YAY!, but my overall goal this go around is a minimum of 5 pounds.

From what I have learned from this diet, it is mostly that I can consume my vegetables, even though I have a mega texture issue. What does this soup taste like? Do you like Beef Stew? I LOVE it! Well, this is like a Beef stew, minus the beef. I love to make a batch, keep it in the fridge and heat up a bowl when I am ready or get the munchies.

Have you tried a similar diet? What are your thoughts? I have seen so many different diets that you can do, but to date, this is the only one that has shown to be a success to me.

  1. This sounds like something I could do. I’d just have to make myself actually eat. I’m always forgetting to eat and then come dinner time, I’m starving. Thanks for sharing it Tanya! I’ll let you know how it works for me. 🙂

  7. Ooooh, this looks delicious and something I could do. I LOVE soup!! Do you think it works because it’s mostly a liquid? I’ve never done a soup thing or even detox before. Skeered!

  8. Hey girl………..glad I could help *giggle*
My first time doing this diet I lost 16 lbs and I’ve done it a couple more times with great results……..I’ve been thinking of the diet once again.
I was thinking monday……lol as the kids go to school and its much easier for me to follow it while they’re not here most of the day………then I’m not tempted to cook 😉

Anyways……g’luck and let me know how you do this time! ♥ :yahoo:
