TV Goes Social with Verizon FiOS @FiOSFans *Twitter Party Giveaway!* (Closed)

Everything about technology amazes me; from the actual gadget all the way to the background behind that technology. What if you were able to Tweet straight from your TV while you are watching your favorite shows? I have been reading about a new service that is available from Verizon FiOS. What is Verizon FiOS?

Verizon FiOS products are delivered over a Fiber to the premises network using passive optical network technology. Voice, video, and data travel over three wavelengths in the infrared spectrum.

In other words, technology is growing so fast and is getting faster and is able to meet more of our needs. This means SPEED.

factsonfios

I never thought that a service like this would be available, let alone possible. If you’re watching your favorite TV show, you can actually log into Twitter on your TV and see what people are Tweeting live about that show as you’re watching in real time. If you are big in to Twitter, you probably are amazed like I am. This is so cool to even have the capability to do this! If you are on your TV, you can even connect to Facebook or anywhere on the internet; straight from your TV.

fios-logoVideo that’s in demand is available on-demand from Verizon FiOS TV. Recent programming additions to the company’s all-fiber-optic FiOS TV service have increased its Video on Demand (VOD) collection to more than18,000 titles per month. That’s nearly twice the VOD offering from the country’s largest cable provider.

In recent months Verizon also has added some 1,000 new high-definition titles to FiOS TV VOD — expanding its collection by 70 percent — to give subscribers a choice of more than 2,400 monthly VOD programs in HD.

“When it comes to watching what you want, when you want, FiOS TV is the clear choice over cable,” said Tricia Lynch, vice president of video-on-demand programming at Verizon. “Our all-fiber network delivers the ultimate VOD experience, with stunning picture and sound, pure HD, and a wide variety of programming for everyone in the family.”

Just last month, Verizon enhanced FiOS TV VOD with new HD on-demand content from HBO, Cinemax, Starz and The Movie Channel, along with an additional 140 hours of movies on-demand from Encore.

FiOS TV offers a broad collection of programming, with 500 all-digital channels, including more than 123 HD channels.

Are you in to, or is your husband, in to Fantasy Football? My hubby sure is! What if you were able to have the ability to do your Fantasy Draft and keep tabs on your Fantasy Football? Wow, I am so blown away by this fantastic Verizon FiOS Technology! I think it is genius and will add such an exciting and entertaining element to the way we view our favorite genre of shows and movies on TV! It is so amazing to me how far we come in today’s modern technology in terms of what we can so through social networking when combined with the latest and greatest technology and I cannot even imagine in another few years what we will be able to do next! I can see using Verizon FiOS for so many of our favorite television type shows! First and foremost I can see us as a family enjoy sports like footballs and baseball and being able to interest on twitter with people from all over the world as we watch! But, how about the upcoming Olympics??!! I mean how amazing will that be to be able to watch the Olympics where our finest athletes are competing from all over the world and being able to tweet with unique people from all over the world as we all experience them together, it leaves me speechless to think about the possibilities.

I can envision myself and my family using Verizon FiOS as we watch any type of show, as long as it is a show which we find compelling and interesting as well as entertaining. It can be everything from watching HGTV and sharing decorating tips with our twitter friends as we watch one of the many great home decor shows, or listening to CNN news as it breaks and discussing what is going on as the news is being unveiled to us.

I am getting so excited just at the thought of all the different types of shows I would love to interact with my twitter friends about!

Thank you so much for the chance to enter.

I’d look for some older movies that I haven’t seen in awhile (It’s a Wild, Wild, Wild, Wild World…Dr. Zhivago…the original The Out of Towners…) It sounds great for On Demand movies, but honestly I don’t know if I’d be pulling up Twitter or Facebook on my TV :)

My husband and I recently just moved into a neighborhood that had access to Verizon FIOS and we were SO excited for it… we went in and had a free consultation and made an appt to have Verizon come and set it up. Unfortunately, we bought a condo in a house where 2 units(half of the house) did not sell… the “owners” of the house wouldn’t allow us to drill a hole on the outside of the house, therefore we got stuck with Comcast.

I would absolutely love to be able to watch Project Runway and be able to interact through twitter/facebook while doing it! I think this would totally enrich the experience of the show. I think Verizon is totally on board with coming into the “new age” which this sort of technology… very cool!

I think the fios is an awesome concept. I would love to see other people’s input on the tv shows I’m currently watching. Plus I’d love to discuss things that are going on with those people. It is so crazy how technology is constantly becoming more and more advanced!

I would definitely use fios while watching the tv show LOST. Every time I watch that show, I get so confused at what is going on (gotta love it) and really want to talk to everyone I know about what is going on. LOST has such a dedicated fanbase so I’d assume the fios community would always be chattering about the secret meanings and little things I may have missed. plus we can all be lost together!

    I tweeted! Twitter.com/benkog

    Sounds like a fun idea.

Most any show I’d watch. It’s fun to chat about the shows as they’re happing. Or repeat hilarious one liners. Like last weeks Office when pam and jim kept saying, darn now I forgot. What was it, like “Ben and Jerrys” in that funny voice.
