Picture this: We live in a small town and we have surrounding area radio stations, but we have nothing locally. We have NO radio stations here. Literally. None. Zip. Zero. Nada. When I was asked if I wanted to check out the VTech IS9181, I was beyond ecstatic!
Here are some videos to show you ease of set up. There is no sound, other than the radio station playing.

Set up was amazingly fast and EASY! I plugged the VTech IS9181 in, on a shelf in my kitchen, followed the step by step easy instructions and within 5 minutes I had thousands of radio stations from all around the world!

Stations? What did you ask? Oh my gosh – are there stations? My first day with this bad boy, I scrolled through countless pages of stations, selections for genres, and yes folks, there is even a station for Michael Jackson! Like 80’s? There’s a TON of stations for that range. 90’s – gotcha. Current hits – oh, so many!
How is the sound? The stations are crisp. I am talking concert sounds.. minus the weirdo in front of you that is doing the air guitar.
What do I think about the price? Do you have to ask? The IS9181 WiFi Internet Radio is $149. Do I think it’s worth it? I can honestly say that I expected this to be more, but YES I think this is worth it. You don’t have to pay for satellite radio (PLUS!), you get a gorgeous radio for your home and all you have to do is connected it to your WiFi and walah – thousands of stations for you to listen to.
My only ONLY suggestion, and this is more like an ‘addition’ to the packaging/components, is to have the ability to mount the IS9181 WiFi Internet Radio under the kitchen counter. Think about it – how much time do we ladies spend in our kitchens? While this is a fabulous gift idea for a dad or grad, this is THE BEST gift idea for that stay at home chef, meal maker, snack maker, pantry organizer, kid chasing, internet working, house cleaning, boogar wiping, laundry folding mom. While the buttons are on the top of the radio, this could still be easily mountable sideways or under a cabinet, verses stand alone on a countertop.
Overall: LOVE IT! If you are techy, this is great! If you are not so techy, this is still fabulous! You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to be able to figure out how to work the IS9181 WiFi Internet Radio. All in all, great product, great price, great stations, great quality. Highly recommended!

I think this is neat! We used to subscribe to satellite radio, but after the initial few months, gave up due to the cost. I love listening to internet radio, but hate having the page open on my computer since it slows things down considerably. With this, I can listen via the radio and not have to worry about bogging down my internet speed.
It would save me from having to turn on a pc and stream my favorite audio in the bedroom

Having something like this would be a huge help for me. I haven’t listened to radio since I moved 4 years ago. There are only a few stations in my new city and they play the same garbage over and over! This would give me the opportunity to experience a variety of music that I just can’t get on the radio here.

I absolutely love listening to the radio (I’m an avid NPR listener) but I have the worlds oldest stereo in my living room (no it doesn’t have an 8track but pretty darn close) and the antenna is practically nonexistant! My husband and I were trying to listen to a basketball game the other day and he had to get a coat hanger just to get it to come in !
I’d love to get this not only for NPR but for listening to the Cincinnati Reds this summer. I think baseball is sort of boring to watch on tv but for some reason I love to listen to it in the summer time especially if I’m cleaning up around the house! ‘

This is going to sound weird, but here goes. So I own this tricycle. And I use it ride basically everywhere I need to go locally; up to school, to the market, to friend’s places, etc. The thing is that I have been looking for a way to take some form of audible music or radio along with me, without having to wear headphones (possible hazard on the road). Wow! Great prize! I don’t know if it is my generation or if I’ve seen so many movies that I expect to have music playing in the background all of the time. It doesn’t have to be loud and most of the time the music is very mild and unobtrusive, but I need to have the sound all of the time except when I am sleeping. (Some people go to sleep with the radio on, but not me.) I’ve gone from listening to the radio all of the time to tapes to CDs, to multi-CD changers to internet radio to iTunes on my computer or iPod. I need to have that background sound. I am in the process of trying to start my own home-based Executive Recruiting business. While conducting research on the internet (which is a large part of what I do), I always listen to the radio. In fact, I have noticed that I am much more productive and energetic when listening to music. However, I live in a smallish town in Northeast Pennsylvania located in a valley. We have a very limited number of “good” radio stations around here. And, due to my valley location, the reception on those radio stations is not very good. Oh goodness, I live in Iowa too- need I say more? Where this would go though is to my Father in Law in Applington. Talk about boondocks. The other nice thing for him is that he gets up early to drive school bus and this would be nice for him to listen to in the wee hours and hear road conditions quickly. We live in the sticks. Add to that the grain elevator a few blocks away that blocks most signals. Very poor reception on traditional radios. Also, when we travel, we often find stations that have music that is “just right’ for our tastes, but no way to listen when we get home. This V-tech device sounds like just the ticket.
In this internet age, I still like to listen to the news on radio but even though I have a new FM radio, I still get annoyed with static. I have to re-position the radio every day to make it static-free. This vTech radio is just what I need.
I would love to have this to listen to while I do my crafts.
I would love to have this! It would help me because I’m often in the kitchen and I would love to be able to access all these radio stations. It would make all the daily kitchen duties so much more fun with a great radio to listen to.
It would be a huge step forward for me, because right now I don’t even own a radio. It would help me be more connected to what is going on in the world.

Wow no subscription that’s awesome! I am a music lover and nowadays due to medical reasons I am mostly house bound so this would be great to listen too great music all day and have tons to choose from and your review sounds great maybe if I don’t win I will have to purchase one. this is sooo cool, i have 3 teens and they would be over the moon to have this, this would help around here soo much as music is a huge thing in our house, all the kids play instruments and they are always looking for cool new music , this would be soo much fun , and i get terrible receprion on regular radios in our apartment , i bet that wouldnt be a problem with this
