I got my flu shot from Walgreens. Have you gotten yours? *Review & Giveaway* (10/24)

Have you gotten your flu shot yet? If you haven’t THIS is the time to get it.

walgreens flu shot

With all the germs floating around out there and the scare of H1N1, I have been fortunate enough to have gotten my flu shot just last weekend. Thank you to Jenna from Love of Baby Online for taking this video of me getting my shot. What – you didn’t think we would video it?

The nurse said I was a self healer, but I still had to ask for a Snoopy Bandaid. I was looking at one of the guys waiting in line. He was laughing that we were videoing it. Too funny!

Did the flu shot hurt? Not at all! I always tense up during them because I never know if they will sting or not. LOL

We, as moms always take care of our kids and families, but we rarely think about ourselves. Well, this year is the year that moms need to take that extra measure to protect our families, but also to take it upon ourselves to get our flu shot.

With kids, husbands, schools, friends, communities and employers depending on moms for so much, it’s more important than ever for moms to get vaccinated against seasonal flu this year. Plus, moms are the bridge between kids and the rest of the community, so it’s extra important they stay healthy and arm themselves for the ones they love.

This flu season, Walgreens has taken a leadership role in flu prevention. Seventy-five percent of Walgreens pharmacists are now certified immunizers, in-store flu shots for $24.99 (which may be covered by insurance plans as well as Medicare Part B).

Here are some helpful everyday tips to help prevent spreading the flu:

  • Cover your mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze.
  • Wash your hands with warm, soapy water for 10-15 seconds or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer, especially after you sneeze or cough.
  • Keep living and work areas clean by using household disinfectants) and sanitize surfaces with bleach or alcohol.
  • Avoid contact with others who are sick.
  • If you are sick, stay home from work or school.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.

Go here to find a Walgreens near you where you can get your flu shot!

We are sooooo behind on getting flu shots, I’d love to win this. My tip for keeping the flu and germs at bay is lots of disinfecting wipes around the house. We keep them in just about every room.

I am a nurse and my husband is a prison guard in a large prison. I have a basket right at the front door where we put our shoes and we automatically strip down and take showers as soon as we get in the house so that we do not spread all the germs throughout the house. That might seem a bit extreme but I don’t think you can be too careful!!

Main entry: One thing that I do with my grandkids is to have them cough or sneeze into the inside of the elbow area. (If they cover their mouth/nose with their hand, they will spread germs as they touch things) More ideas tomorrow…..

To protect the family from getting sick, we always cover our mouth and nose if we are near someone who is coughing or sneezing. We wash our hands after touching foreign objects, and never put our hands near our mouth until they are clean.

Do I have to get the flu shot if I win or can the gift card be used for something else?

Studies show that flu vaccines are unsafe and ineffective so I will not be getting one. Esp after reading this: http://bit.ly/bC3YV

I don’t usually get a flu shot and I’ve only gotten the flu 2x in the last 10 years. I know lots of people who get their flu shot every year and then end up with the flu within 3 months of getting it.

With the flu shot, especially when getting it early, is a gamble because they have to guess as what type of flu they *think* might be going around that winter. Just seems like too big of a gamble to me.

Personally, I pump myself up on Emergen-C vitamin drink mix that gives you 1000 mg of C plus B vitamins and more. Plus I take Airborne Effervescent Health Formula (which I love) and comes in some pretty nifty flavors this year. In addition to that, I make sure I eat a healthy diet so that my body is strong and can fight anything that I might catch.

I’m pretty neurotic when it comes to germs so I really try hard to stay away from sick people, wash my hands while I’m out and when I come home, and make sure I always have a bottle of Source Naturals Wellness Formula. That stuff is great!
