Western Union’s ‘Return the Love’ $250.00 Giveaway! (Closed)

TMOMMother’s Day! Mother’s Day! Have you gotten your mother anything yet? No matter where we turn, there is talk about that perfect gift for Mom. I will say that I am usually the one to pick out or even buy my own Mother’s Day gifts, so when I get anything extra; that just makes my day! Last year, the kids each made me a Hallmark flowerpot and to this day, that still means so much to me! I love shopping for my mom! (That’s me & my mommy!)

Western Union is here to help you out with Mother’s Day! “Return the Love” is a national Mother’s Day Campaign designed to encourage consumers to give mom the perfect gift.

Did you know that more than 40% of moms admit to pretending to like their Mother’s Day Gifts? This seems high, but pretty realistic!

When researching Mother’s Day gifting trends, a recent Western Union consumer survey1 found daughters and sons of all ages have good intentions when it comes to finding the perfect gift, but 42 percent find it hard to shop for the perfect gift for mom.

Return the Love“Seventy three percent of consumers are planning to give a Mother’s Day gift this year and Western Union’s ‘Return the Love’ campaign is designed with both the gift giver, and the gift recipient, in mind,” continued Stockdale. “The gift of cash is easy and convenient to give, and it’s sure to be something that mom will never return or exchange.”

“Return the Love” is a multi-faceted, integrated consumer campaign designed to encourage consumers to send the gift of cash, this Mother’s Day.

“Return the Love” campaign elements include:

  • Kick-off special performance dedicated to Moms featuring Wyclef Jean and Paulina Rubio at the Billboard Latin Music Awards, on April 29, produced and broadcast live by Telemundo.
  • Several Wyclef Jean and Paulina Rubio performances and consumer-facing events, including a special concert honoring military moms;
  • Advertising via print, broadcast, radio, out-of-home, mobile and online channels showcasing the myriad of ways mom shows her love to her children, from giving them 12,368 kisses to changing 5,345 diapers and preparing 19,710 meals;
  • In the social media space, Western Union dedicates a tab on its Facebook page encouraging fans to share how they are honoring and celebrating their moms;
  • Additionally, Western Union has a Flickr®page (flickr.com/groups/love2010) where consumers can share photos of their moms. Each week, Western Union will select photos from this gallery to display on the company’s home page, www.westernunion.com

The Western Union consumer survey also found 42 percent of moms have pretended to like a Mother’s Day gift; and separately, 30 percent thought the gift was either “thoughtful” but not a gift they wanted, or they did not receive a gift at all.

This year, let’s give mom what she really wants!

Western Union’s Return the Love Photo Group
Western Union has set-up a Mother’s Day Flickr group where you can share photos of your mom or even a photo of you and your child. Each week, they are selecting photos from this gallery to display on the company’s home page at www.WesternUnion.com

One hot summerday while hiking with a group at a Katahdin State park in Maine, we both got lost and wern’t rescued until the next day- but my aunt kept us both warm- AND fed! Using her girlscout leader skills, she foraged for edible plants, built a fire and we had a salad for supper, then we gathered materials for bedding and slept- sort of.
    From then on, we always carried an emergency pack of stuff whenever we went on hikes.

    My mom passed away several years ago. I have lots of memories of her, mostly from when I was growing up. One of my favorite memories is about the picnic lunches she’d pack in the summer. We spent every Saturday and Sunday water skiing at the lake and she’d make sure to pack the picnic basket or bring along a hot dogs to roast every time. I can still see her hustkubg around he kitchen getting that meal together.

But my children love being with both of them just the same. One weekend my husband and I were going away and both of them offered to take the kids. I asked the kids which one they’d want to stay with and my daughter said it was too hard to do and wanted my mom to come and stay all night with my mother in law so no one’s feelings would be hurt. (they didn’t do it but I loved that my children love them equally!!)

    My mother was a wonderful lady whose life was cut short because of Breast Cancer. She lost her battle with cancer when she was just 49 years old and I was 19. She taught me a great deal about courage.

    I love my mom. She had a kidney transplant a few years ago and I’ll always remember that and how strong she was. I don’t know if I could have done it all…and keep doing what she must to stay healthy.

    My mom was always the strongest woman I ever knew. I idolized her as a super hero of sorts, My most poignent memory was when it was near the time for her to go home to her father, and she broke down and told me she was scared and it was unfair. It was at the moment I realized how human my mom really was. It was at that moment I loved her more than I ever thought I could. This may seem like a sad memory, but the love I felt at that very moment is something I may never experience again

    My Mom is a total goofball. She’s just quirky and even though she drives me absolutely bonkers sometimes, I still love her! I remember when I was in labor with Kelsie, we called Mom and told her I was in labor and it took her TWENTY minutes in the middle of the night to get to the hospital. She was there when Kelsie was born and to see that smile on her face was just amazing. I’m so glad she was their to see my first born and her first grandchild!

    My Mom is such a wonderful and giving person. I’m now in my 40′s and the Mom of two children myself. However, my Mother plays an important role in my childrens lives too. She and my Dad, always did without grand luxuries to help support and provide for us when we were growing up. Now, they are still doing the same for the sake of their Grandchildren. They rather take the kids out for a day trip than go away on their own. In addition, if ever the kids have anything going on at the school, they’re willing to go and look so forward to encouring our kids.
    Thanks so much.

    My Mom is special to me because she was and is an excellent mother. She sacrificed a lot for us kids growing up. She never bought anything for herself and put us through private school. I don’t remember her ever having new clothes or jewelry.
    Now that I’m all grown up I’d like to give her something special in appreciation.
