Western Union’s ‘Return the Love’ $250.00 Giveaway! (Closed)

TMOMMother’s Day! Mother’s Day! Have you gotten your mother anything yet? No matter where we turn, there is talk about that perfect gift for Mom. I will say that I am usually the one to pick out or even buy my own Mother’s Day gifts, so when I get anything extra; that just makes my day! Last year, the kids each made me a Hallmark flowerpot and to this day, that still means so much to me! I love shopping for my mom! (That’s me & my mommy!)

Western Union is here to help you out with Mother’s Day! “Return the Love” is a national Mother’s Day Campaign designed to encourage consumers to give mom the perfect gift.

Did you know that more than 40% of moms admit to pretending to like their Mother’s Day Gifts? This seems high, but pretty realistic!

When researching Mother’s Day gifting trends, a recent Western Union consumer survey1 found daughters and sons of all ages have good intentions when it comes to finding the perfect gift, but 42 percent find it hard to shop for the perfect gift for mom.

Return the Love“Seventy three percent of consumers are planning to give a Mother’s Day gift this year and Western Union’s ‘Return the Love’ campaign is designed with both the gift giver, and the gift recipient, in mind,” continued Stockdale. “The gift of cash is easy and convenient to give, and it’s sure to be something that mom will never return or exchange.”

“Return the Love” is a multi-faceted, integrated consumer campaign designed to encourage consumers to send the gift of cash, this Mother’s Day.

“Return the Love” campaign elements include:

  • Kick-off special performance dedicated to Moms featuring Wyclef Jean and Paulina Rubio at the Billboard Latin Music Awards, on April 29, produced and broadcast live by Telemundo.
  • Several Wyclef Jean and Paulina Rubio performances and consumer-facing events, including a special concert honoring military moms;
  • Advertising via print, broadcast, radio, out-of-home, mobile and online channels showcasing the myriad of ways mom shows her love to her children, from giving them 12,368 kisses to changing 5,345 diapers and preparing 19,710 meals;
  • In the social media space, Western Union dedicates a tab on its Facebook page encouraging fans to share how they are honoring and celebrating their moms;
  • Additionally, Western Union has a Flickr®page (flickr.com/groups/love2010) where consumers can share photos of their moms. Each week, Western Union will select photos from this gallery to display on the company’s home page, www.westernunion.com

The Western Union consumer survey also found 42 percent of moms have pretended to like a Mother’s Day gift; and separately, 30 percent thought the gift was either “thoughtful” but not a gift they wanted, or they did not receive a gift at all.

This year, let’s give mom what she really wants!

Western Union’s Return the Love Photo Group
Western Union has set-up a Mother’s Day Flickr group where you can share photos of your mom or even a photo of you and your child. Each week, they are selecting photos from this gallery to display on the company’s home page at www.WesternUnion.com

    My special memory of my mom is making cookies, cinnamon rolls and crafts just before Christmas when I was in fourth grade. She told me of a large family in town facing medical and financial troubles, and we were going to be “sharing” Christmas with that family. The entire week that we prepared the Christmas box seemed “magical.” It was thru this experience I learned the power of charity and the art of giving graciously and with “heart.”

    Tell you about my mom? OK. LOL….

    My mom works in the same office that I do, which means I have TONS of stories. It also means that I can NEVER escape!

    Mom is the type of person who believes those chain emails floating around. I just wish she would fact check them before sending them to everyone on her email list. She loves to overreact. Just the other day, she came into my office to tell me that she is going to the doctor’s to check out a pain she has been having, and she wants to make sure that I know where she hides her money, “just in case”. She drew me a map. And she left her Avon order in my office because she didn’t want to leave it in the car in the heat in case she got sent to the hospital.

    Seemed like a lot of hassle for just some gas pains!

    (I love my mommy)

    When I was about 13 years old, my dad was at sea and my mom went to a party for Navy wives. She wasn’t a “partier” and didn’t go out often. She certainly didn’t stay out late. So, when it got to be 11pm and she wasn’t home, I started worrying. I called the party, and they said that she’d left. By the time she got home, I was crying, afraid she’d been killed, and she had a Florida driver’s license, and no one would know that she had a home and child alone in South Carolina. Of course, she was fine, it just took her a little while to drive home, but I told her that from then on, she had a curfew! She told me later it was the best thing that ever could have happened, because when I got to be driving age, I always made sure she knew where I was and when I would be home. Now that she’s a widow, and I call her regularly in the evenings to make sure she’s okay, she is pretty careful to let me know when she’s going out for dinner or a church board meeting or something that will have her getting home late.

    Mom isn’t just my Mom. She’s “Mom” to lot’s of kids and adults alike. She’s the kind to make sure you eat, makes sure you have everything you need, would still scold you no matter what age you are to straighten you out and hug you when she’s done. We giggle at nothing sometimes, cry together others. She always tells me she loves me, every day in fact and always gives me a hug and kiss when I go. Not a day passes that we don’t at least talk on the phone. She loves spring time and flowers, new babies and four legged fur balls. My Mom, she’s pretty much perfect and I’m lucky to be her daughter. :mail:

    My Mom loves to buy little trinkets for the kids and adult kids. Everything she does, she puts a little thought behind it. Growing up it was tough, but Mom knew what to do.
    Later in life things got better and she shared everything with no conditions. Love was always there and so is Mom.

    My Mom is my best friend (and fishing buddy)! She’s a great wife, mother, grandmother, friend and confidant to ‘all’ who has been blessed with her ‘loving spirit’!

    She continues to love my siblings and I ‘unconditionally’ (which at times, can be quite difficult) and takes great pride in caring for my ‘ailing’ father who was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer.

    She only sees ‘the good’ in others and is always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need!

    And – Oh, did I mention that she makes a ‘killer’ blueberry cobbler!

    Thanks for the great giveaway offering and for allowing me to express ‘How Great My Mom Is’ to your readers!

    Good Luck to all!

    Although crippled, she never let it be an obstacle. She would sew me costumes to play dress up in and teach me how to have fun with simple things using my imagination. Wheelchair bound, she taught me not to care what others think of you. :)
