When we were in Connecticut we usually went to Bill's sister's house in Boston for a wonderful family dinner. I would always bring dessert, and would help her cook. We usually spent the weekend there and would go into town to see the Christmas decorations and do some shopping on Friday at Filenes Basement.
Now that we live in Florida, we don't have any family nearby, so it is usually just the two of us and I make a turkey breast in our Ronco rotisserie. Or we just go out to eat.

It's nice to create your own traditions outside of your extended family - keep it up, your family will appreciate it. Enjoy the parades!

Every single Thanksgiving, after the dishes are down, bellies are stuffed...it's me vs my dad ...the wishbone battle. LOL We pull out the wishbone of the turkey and my dad and I tug on each end to see who gets the bigger half. We've been doing this since I can remember and somehow that man always wins.
