Keep food & Snacks fresh with Ziploc *Review & Giveaway* (Closed)

by Tanya on October 2, 2009

in Blog Tours, Closed Contests, Family Review Network, Product Reviews

Since I have become a stay at home mother, I have started to make more meals in a bulk size so I can store portions in baggies or containers for a later use. This ranges from snacks that can be kept in the pantry, to snacks or food that can be kept in the fridge.

There are so many things that I use Ziploc bags for. When I travel, I always put my liquids in Ziploc bags. Not just for ‘security reasons’, but because I like my things organized and I don’t like the liquids leaking on to my clothes and dry make up stuff. When I am at home, we use Ziploc baggies to organize the kids’ art materials, anytime we are in the van, we put the kids’ snacks in them and when we are at home, we use them for so many things from organizing to storing food in them.

zip2

Food stays fresh – at home, or on the go! Whether you’ve got a big double-decker sandwich or a skinny PB&J, Ziploc® Brand Sandwich Bags are perfect for sealing in freshness. Use them to pack lunch for yourself and your family, or just to keep snacks and sandwiches accessible and fresh.

ziploc1Another product that I have never used, and am thankful to Ziploc and Family Review Network is the Ziploc Fresh Shield Twist ‘n Loc Containers.

Ziploc® Fresh Shield® Twist ‘n Loc® Containers block out air. And lock in freshness. Plus, the lids twist on like a jar and have a leak-resistant seal—-so you don’t have to worry about spills or leaks.

I love these! Just today, I made homemade peanut butter cookies and I was able to easily store the dough in these, without the fear of them leaking in air, or leaking out the goodies inside.

Uses and Feature:

  • Perfect for soups, stews, and gravies—store them in the fridge or take them on the go.
  • Keep homemade baked goods and after-school snacks fresh and accessible.
  • Store and transport messy foods like flour, pasta, and cereal with ease.
  • Store cookies and crackers when you’re on the road to keep them safe and secure.
  • Keep pens, pencils, and other office supplies neat and organized.
  • Organize and store crayons, paintbrushes, and other art supplies.
  • Wide rim, finger grips, and a ridged lid make handling easy.

I am looking forward to more holiday baking with these containers. It sure makes it easy to store and to give baked yummies for gifts!

Thank you to Family Review Network and Ziploc for a much appreciated opportunity!

This post was written as part of a program for Family Review Network and SC Johnson, who provided the item for review.

I use the containers for just about everything! My husband keeps odd screws and nails in them. I use them for leftovers.

I use them for snacks for the kids. Instead of buying more expensive single serve packs, I buy in bulk and then make my own single serve packs with Ziploc bags.

When doing activities will a number of children at once, we use Ziplocks as a fun dinner activity and make omelets in them. Each participant puts two beaten eggs in their ziplock freezer bag (these must be freezer bags so they don’t melt when you cook them) along with their selection from the extras on the table (tomato, onion, cheese… you name it).

Once they are all ready, throw the seal the bag, shake the contents around so it mixes nicely, and cook in a pan of boiling water for five minutes.

Hi,

apart from the usual food uses (we make homemade soups and store in the freezer along with berries and local meats like buffalo) .. in our work (www.okwari.ca/rustic.html), we store our cheesecloths for finishing our rustic benches and to keep our brushes and small tools dust free in the ziploc bags. We also store used batteries in the containers until they are full and then take them to a recycle depot.

I also keep coins in the baggies in my car for the tolls. I keep doggie treats in both for car trips with Nano. I use it for so many more things, and The Hubs uses them in the garage, too. My list could go on forever…

main entry: Wow, I use them in a million ways. For Food I use them to freeze up meals or side dishes I cooked and freeze them (laying flat so they stack easier) so I can just reheat them up in the microwave. I divide up big bags of chips, crackers & snack foods and store them away so when we reach for snacks we do not eat the whole bag and they last longer. I use them religously for my seamstress needs in my sewing room to house supplies like beads/buttons/bobbin spools/paint markers/looose scraps ribbons/tiny fabric iron on applique pieces/name lables “I could go on & on but post ought not be that long LOL so my last wonderful suggestion to others for them in use would be in gift theme baskets in which I shred color papers in my shredder then add a bit to the inside of a ziplock bag then add small amounts of the themed item in each bag like bath salts/handmade soaps/ cookies/candies etc then tie a ribbon around the top and add to my theme basket as gifts. thanks!
